The U.S. Presidential Election is just over two months away. As the day of decision approaches, candidates from both parties are looking for any advantage they can find. Of the two candidates (who can keep track of more than two, honestly?), Joe Biden is clearly the choice for the crucial gamer vote.

Gamers may prove to be a key deciding factor in this election. According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), a paragon of the industry who never doxxed anyone ever, 64% of Americans play video games. This, of course, means that 64% of voters are a monolithic block of humanity that can all be pushed to vote one way. Also according to the ESA, who are totally on gamers’ side in every way, 59% of gamers are civically engaged to the point that they, “Are certain they will vote in the next Presidential Election.” With gamers making up such a significant portion of the electorate, it’s a good thing for Biden he shares so much in common with this community.

Much like gamers, Biden has a lifelong history of trying his best on women’s issues. With a record of only eight women accusing him of inappropriate behavior, Biden could easily get a job running any prestigious AAA studio. The former Vice President also has a habit of commenting publicly on the appearance of women, especially very young women. This puts him in perfect sync with gamers, who love to make comments about the way women look. It doesn’t matter if they’re a fictional character, a developer working on a game, a streamer, someone hosting a podcast or livestream, or a journalist, gamers will find something to say about a woman’s looks.

Also like gamers, Biden has a track record of reaching out to marginalized communities. In fact, Biden is a pioneer in the practice of creating systems that combat racism, sexism, and bigotry. When someone in gaming says, “We’d love to have more women, people of color or LGBT people on staff but they’re just not applying for positions,” that person is operating on the same mindset Biden did when he wrote the 1994 Crime Bill. Nothing keeps marginalized communities safe like removing their worst members.

Finally, Biden shares gamers’ love of a good double-barreled shotgun. Who can forget his advice on home defense using the Doom Slayer’s signature weapon?

For all these reasons, Joe Biden is the natural ally of gamers both here in the U.S. and around the world. His past votes in favor of the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have contributed to the many vibrant, tan-and-brown settings 90% of FPS games use. We can all agree that nothing has been better for gaming than having such an active military to inspire so many exciting shooters.

While gamers and Biden have a lot in common, the candidate has sadly shown a distaste for the industry in general. In 2013, Biden briefly floated the imposition of a tax on games. Earlier this year he referred to game developers as “creeps” who “make games that teach you how to kill.” Even more recently, Biden has begun to move away from gamers even further. He’s chosen Kamala Harris as a running mate over much more qualified candidates like Micheal Bloomberg or Beto O’Rourke.

Luckily for Biden, there is a simple PR move that can save his image with gamers. Nothing could be better for Biden’s image than a Let’s Play of The Last of Us Part II. All his statements about the industry came before TLOU2. Now that gaming has our own Schindler’s List under our belt, Biden can simply show us all that he’s seen how wrong he was about gaming. Truly, no one could ever claim that Niel Druckman is a creep or that a game about “universal hate” is anything but the highest form of art. TLOU2 is also pro Israel just like Biden, It’s a match made in heaven.

True gamers Back Biden!
