Don’t feel like Jump Rope Challenge is doing enough to encourage your fitness journey? Then download designs for these Joy-Con handles so you can turn them into a real jump rope.
Last week, Nintendo released a free game to help everyone stay fit during lockdown. Called Jump Rope Challenge, it’s a fitness game that simulates the act of using a jump rope. There’s not a lot to it, with basically just a calendar function tracking your progress and providing a daily goal, unlike Ring Fit Adventure that actually tries to add a bit of a plot to your exercises.
But at zero dollars to download, you can’t really argue with Jump Rope Challenge’s price tag.
What you can argue with is its design. While hopping around all day is certainly going to provide a decent aerobic workout, twirling your Joy-Cons around like you’re actually skipping rope isn’t really going to work out those triceps as much as an actual, weighted jump rope.
That’s where Thingiverse user DiegoHarrison comes in. They’ve created a plastic handle design that can be downloaded and printed on a 3D printer to turn your Joy-Cons into an actual jump rope.
There are a few things to note about this design. First, it’s a clamshell design that doesn’t have any latches or clasps, so after slotting the Joy-Con inside, you’ll have to keep the two halves together somehow. You could use elastic bands or smaller pieces of rope if you want to be able to extract your Joy-Con later, or you could use some sort of adhesive if you want a more permanent Joy-Con-Rope solution.
And voila! You’ve turned Joy-Cons into a jump rope. Now get jumping and feel significantly more burn thanks to the weighted rope.
