Jumpala is an upcoming game from indie game studio, Yokereba, that fans of platforming and competitive party games will want to keep an eye on.
The game is a fast-paced multiplayer competitive platformer that tasks up to four players with jumping on various platforms to turn them the same color as their team while collecting points as they make their way to the top of the level. Each of the five available playable characters - the fifth character, Reese, having just been revealed - have their own special ability that can be used once their Special Meter is full to help turn the tide and get an advantage over the other players - such as momentarily knocking out or freezing opponents, or destroying specific platforms all together. Of course, this is easier said than done since players will still need to stay focused on not falling off of the platforms and out of the stage themselves.
“As with my previous game, Jumpala is a love letter to Spryjinx, a game I played as a child,” stated Makario Lewis, the solo developer at Yokereba. “I wanted to capture the feelings I had when playing Spryjinx, and add some modern twists like special abilities and cool characters.”
Jumpala will be hitting Steam Early Access sometime in 2020 with five stages, local and online play, and keyboard and gamepad support. The hope is to have the game fully released by year’s end.
