The Kandagawa Jet Girls racing game is officially being released in the west. The XSeed Games racing game was previously only available in Japan for PS4, but will be widening its market this summer.

Kandagawa Jet Girls is an anime series about girl groups participating in a popular sporting pastime, Jet Racing. The game that followed the anime essentially makes the 64 episodes in the series playable. Racers can choose to play as one of the seven teams of two and have to do a bit more than just finish the race to win. Impressing the on-lookers, performing stunts, and ducking enemies and obstacles are all important parts of the game as well. Players can customize their jets and characters to perfectly fit their style and can play either solo or online with up to three other players.

This western release will have two things the Japanese version didn’t: Kandagawa Jet Girls will be available for PS4 and PC, and some characters that were only available as DLC in Japan will be included off the bat. There are two options for snagging this game, either picking up the “Racing Hearts” physical copy or purchasing through the PlayStation Store and Stream.

“Racing Hearts” is essentially the collector’s edition and at $59.99, just ten dollars more than the digital copy, it’s objectively the better deal for fans of the multimedia series. Along with the game itself the physical copy will come with a 54 track two-disc soundtrack and a 60 page art book all packaged in a special box designed by manga artist, Hanaharu Naruko.

So far, the release date for Kandagawa Jet Girls is a vague “summer 2020” but more is sure to come speeding this way soon!
