Like past games in the Disney/Final Fantasy crossover franchise, Kingdom Hearts 3 features a number of keyblades that Sora can wield over the course of his adventure. However, where Kingdom Hearts 3 differs from previous games is that some of these keyblades are only available if players pre-ordered the game, meaning some fans will be missing out on certain keyblades.
While some fans may be disappointed that they may not necessarily be able to get the Midnight Blue keyblade in Kingdom Hearts 3, that doesn’t mean they will have a shortage of weapons in the game. In fact, there are a wide number of keyblades that players can unlock over the course of the adventure, with Sora getting a new one in nearly every world.
Kingdom Hearts 3 has a lot of keyblades, so it’s helpful that the game allows Sora to equip multiple keyblades at any given time. Sora has three slots for keyblades, which can be cycled through during battle using the d-pad. The keyblades in Kingdom Hearts 3 all have unique properties and special abilities attached to them, so players can really mix things up in battle by switching between different ones.
Kingdom Hearts 3’s combat system mixes things up even further with the addition of Disney attractions that serve as especially powerful special attacks. Combine this with the enemy variety, the Link summoning system, and the usual set of magic attacks, and Kingdom Hearts 3’s combat system is pretty robust.
So with or without the Midnight Blue keyblade, Kingdom Hearts 3 fans should still have plenty of fun mowing down hordes of Heartless and Nobodies over the course of the game.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
