The developers behind the tantalizing remake of BioWare’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic RPG, are still at it and offering new updates on the project.

Fan remakes might not be an infrequent occurrence in the world of video games, but it is notable when one comes along with an unusual amount of polish or promise attached to it. The fact that Apeiron, an indie developer composed of Poem Studios and other independent Star Wars fans, has crafted an intriguing fan remake of a title as beloved as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has made the project a must-watch, however.

The remake, called Apeiron by the developers but very much a port of the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic content and worlds, has been at the periphery of gaming news whenever new evidence of its progress surfaces. Part of that is because fan remakes have a history of being cancelled by publishers when they get too popular - there’s a tangible sense of anxiety on behalf of everyone looking forward to the Knights of the Old Republic remake.
