After announcing a short delay for the Japanese release of Fairy Tail, Koei Tecmo has now confirmed that the game will be delayed in all regions. Both the European and US releases will now release in July of 2020 and follow a similar pattern to their original dates. The European version will coincide with the Japanese release on July 30 while US gamers will get the game on July 31.
As expected, the delay is related to the coronavirus situation. In a post on Twitter, Koei Tecmo America writes, “The development team is working extremely hard through an unprecedented time to deliver the ultimate magical JRPG experience to fans across the world.”
We’re not exactly certain why each division of Koei Tecmo made separate announcements, but at least everything has been cleared up. It made sense that if the Japanese version wouldn’t be ready in time that the other versions would also follow suit. This update is more for peace of mind than anything.
Fairy Tail may not be the most well-known anime series, but its fans are dedicated. If Koei Tecmo can knock this game out of the park, it could potentially shift the tides of anime games. It would be nice to finally have some quality experiences instead of lame cash grabs.
