Last week saw the release of a number of interesting games from both indie and major developers.
The biggest news was the release of the asymmetrical multiplayer game Predator: Hunting Grounds with one player acting as the Predator taking down four human mercenaries. TheGamer’s reviewer found that being the Predator is fun and being humans is tough even if you manage to kill the alien juggernaut.
Another big title that was released was XCOM: Chimera Squad. This time instead of fighting off an alien invasion the player is tasked with keeping a city intact from hostiles both alien and human. Our review found it was much more condensed from previous titles in order to get you to care about the characters and story more. It may not be as grand as previous titles, but it gets the job done in delivering a fun XCOM experience.
The Shattering was an interesting indie release that’s generating some praise from fans. Described by some as a walking simulator and others as a beautiful piece of art, The Shattering is about a man slowly remembering his past following an accident. Through visuals, hallucinations, and an abstract narrative you piece together who he is and what happened to him.
Then finally the visual novel Code: Realize – Future Blessings was released for the Nintendo Switch making some waves with fans of the medium. It continues the tale of a young woman afflicted with a disease that poisons those she touches as she learns about her condition, find her missing father, and fall for a number of young suitors.
It was a good week for games with something for everyone to enjoy.
