Between vague new advisory councils and controversial clips – this past week on Twitch has been absolutely wild.

Twitch partner FerociouslySteph, now dubbed “Deer Girl,” has done an exemplary job drawing plenty of attention to herself lately. It began with Steph’s appointment to the Twitch Safety Advisory Council, her bio highlighting a “[vehement opposition to] non inclusive mechanics such as voice chat.” When a fresh audience arrived to her stream from the new exposure, things didn’t go so peacefully. Viewers were ready to jump into debate around the subject and everything snowballed… fast.

Steph’s hot take on voice chat aside, she also made a series of controversial statements which prompted responses from various partners. Consequently, many believe the streamer to be unfit for a role on the council. Steph’s difficulty dealing with users wasn’t aided by the virality of an unusual clip of her reacting to a head massage, either. Twitch has yet to officially comment on the recent drama, but there is a chance they are simply planning on letting everything pass on its own.

While there was the usual smattering of moderately amusing clips from large streamers (such as xQc getting his game hacked) – the events surrounding Twitch’s advisory council dominated livestream news this past week. Oh, and someone said what we were all thinking about Linus’s beard, of course.
