Construction on Japan’s Super Nintendo World is still underway and making progress.

Super Nintendo World is an extension of Universal Studios theme parks in Japan and Hollywood and part of the Universal’s Epic Universe in the Universal Orlando Resort. Super Nintendo World would operate just like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as a self contained theme park within a bigger theme park. These projects have been delayed and some production has been postponed due to the pandemic. The Osaka location has been under construction since 2017 and was anticipated to open this summer. While it’s doubtful that that timeline will still be met, one Twitter user shared some progress shots of the construction site.

Thanks to @wrxvabc, Nintendo fans can catch a glimpse at what’s on the way. From the pictures, it looks like they’ve brought to life an entire level from Super Mario Bros. Just across the way from Hogwarts castle a tiered level with trees, hills, waterfalls, and Bowser’s castle can be spotted. Though the best view is of that particular piece of the park, it looks like @wrxvabc also captured a glimpse of what could be Peach’s Castle and potentially some desert level pyramids.

Even though these parks won’t be opening for the summer, it’s encouraging and exciting to see that they are still in the works. Hopefully, by next summer nerds from across the globe will be gathering to overpay for Super Mario themed merch and treats at Super Nintendo World.
