Horror fans are in for a pleasant surprise as Layers of Fear VR arrives for Oculus Quest, offering the series’ unique level of terror anywhere at any time. This will be a huge boon to Oculus’ ease of access console, as it brings one of the best horror games of the last few years into a terrifying VR experience.
The announcement comes from Bloober Team’s official YouTube channel with a terrifying trailer for Layers of Fear VR, that shows off exactly how the game drops the player into the fantastically crafted world of horror. Best of all, players won’t have to wait around for the game, as it is available now on the Oculus Store and ready to download on the Oculus Quest.
One thing that stands out about Layers of Fear VR is the way that Bloober Team mentions in the trailer’s description that the game is “based on” the original 2016 Layers of Fear. This more than likely means that fans of the past game’s scariest moments will likely have some new content to explore outside of what had previously been established in the original. However, even if it is a straight port of the original into VR, there will still be plenty of opportunities for the game to make players jump and squeal in terror thanks to the new, immersive point of view.
This release is huge for both Bloober Team and Oculus, as the Oculus Quest certainly needs an expanded library. Similarly, taking Layers of Fear into VR could give Bloober Team the boon they need to get working on terrifying players with their next project.
