League of Legends came out of nowhere as a DOTA clone and became one of the most recognizable Game Names ever. It did not take long for the game to become a world phenomenon. During its first season, League of Legends had its first world tournament and the game quickly started making a lot of money, even though it was free to play. The quality and size of the championships would only increase over the years.

Now, League of Legends is inseparable from pop culture and is one of the most played games in the whole world. Most gamers have played it at least once. And just like any other competitive game as great as this one, there are many names who will be forever known for their plays, successes, and understanding of the mechanics on a whole new level.

10 Uzi

The legendary bot laner for Royal Never Give Up, Uzi is considered one of the best Attack Damage Carry players to have ever played League of Legends. He was such a high-skilled player that support players were not able to follow up his mechanical perfection and tactics. Because of that, the only support he deemed worthy of playing with him was Tabe.

Unfortunately, Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao was also known for his condescending attitude and lack of charisma. This would often end up overshadowing his skills.

9 Rookie

The mid laner for Invictus Gaming, Song “Rookie” Eui-jin is one of those players that showed a lot of promise since the beginning. Due to his fantastic champion pool, Rookie got himself the nickname “Fake Jr,” which was just meant to refer to how he was good in the mid lane and how he could always find a different champion to use effectively.

Eventually, Rookie did become an amazing player and is recognized as so all over the world. Nowadays, he is considered one of the best mid laners of all time.

8 Deft

Interestingly, Deft attended the same school that the legendary Faker did. He was also the first player to acquire the count of 1,000 kills in two different regions. Even not winning any World title, he was considered one of the greatest League of Legend players.

7 Mata

Cho Se-hyeong, mostly known as Mata, is one of the greatest Support Players to have ever competed in League of Legends. His ID was named after the soccer player Juan Mata. Due to his legendary Thresh, he was frequently compared to MadLife, whom he eventually surpassed.

Mata has multiple League of Legends accounts ranked in Challenger, and each is role exclusive. This must be why he has such a deep understanding of the game. He is also the only support player to ever be awarded MVP at the World Championship.

6 Smeb

Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho debuted as a competitive player back in 2003 when he joined Incredible Miracle 1 and competed at the IEM Season VII - World Championship. Although it took him a few years to be the great player he is today, he eventually got there and is one of the greatest top laners out there.

He was the sixth player to get the 1,000th kill in the LCK. His 1,000th kill was achieved with Camille back in 2018 on Kongdoo Monster’s mid laner during the 2018 Spring Season.

5 Score

Go Dong-bin, mostly known as Score and previously as Joker, is one of the greatest League of Legends junglers of all time. He was a competitive player since Season 2 and switched between the Attack Damage Carry and Top many times. He was known for his very safe playstyle that prevented him from dying during many games. This granted him the nickname The Immortal.

He debuted as a jungler in 2015 for the KT Rolster and became one of the greatest. Score played up until 2019 when he announced his retirement.

4 Perkz

Cloud9’s current mid laner, Luka Perković, started his competitive career as Perkz back in DreamHack Summer 2014. Although his career did not start well, Perkz has the world record of most EU/LEC titles at eight and reached 1,000 kills in the LEC back in 2019.

Perkz is one of the only two players to have ever obtained titles in both the NA and EU regions. He is currently considered one of the best mid laners in League of Legends. Some of his favorite champions are Lucian, Yasuo, and LeBlanc.

Heo Won-seok, mostly known as PawN, is a retired League of Legends player who played for MiG Blitz, Samsung Blue, EDward Gaming, KT Rolster, and Kingzone DragonX. He eventually retired as a competitive player and became an analyst for Riot Games Inc.

PawN was called by many a one-trick pony due to the constant picking of Fizz in the absolute majority of his games. However, he is also the only non-SKT player to have ever won both a World Title and an MSI title.

2 Rekkles

Martin Larsson, known in the League of Legends community as Rekkles, is a Swedish bot laner who players for G2 Esports. Rekkles started his competitive career in 2012, back in Season 2. He used to play for the Playing Ducks. He was only 16 years old back then. Rekkless was a very talented soccer player who started playing League of Legends due to unfortunately being injured when he was 14.

Now, Rekkles is one of the greatest bot laners of all time. He was the first player to reach 1,000 kills in the EU LCS. He was also the first player to reach 1,500 kills in the LEC.

1 Faker

The most famous and respected League of Legends player ever — Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok was so good that he was pulled out of the solo queue by SK Telecom so that they could make a team around him. He is often regarded not as one of the greatest mid laners, but as the greatest League of Legends player of all time.

Faker is known for many things in the game, such as pulling out a mid-lane Riven when it wasn’t even thought of, having a nearly infinite pool of champions, and for his mechanical understanding of the game.
