Former Evil Geniuses mid laner Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer has joined 100 Thieves as head League of Legends Academy coach, the LA-based organization announced yesterday. Goldenglue has been active as a League competitor since 2013, playing for multiple recognizable organizations in both the LCS and LCS Academy. The 24-year-old will now lead 100 Thieves’ Academy side for the 2021 season.

Goldenglue first competed in the North American LCS in 2014 under the Dignitas banner. The mid laner represented a few teams for the next few splits before landing with Team Liquid in 2016, playing two LCS splits with the team.

He joined Cloud9’s Academy squad the following year, winning the LCS Academy 2018 Summer split while also bouncing between Cloud9’s main roster, who finished second in the LCS Summer split. Goldenglue continued to play with both Cloud9’s LCS and Academy rosters throughout 2019, finishing 3-4th in the LCS Spring split and second in the Academy Spring split.

Goldenglue did not find the same success in 2020, finishing 5-6th in both LCS splits, first with Golden Guardians and then with Evil Geniuses. He left Evil Geniuses in November, and now signs on with 100 Thieves to take over their Academy head coach position.

In his official statement, Goldenglue writes that while he “didn’t get to achieve everything [he] wanted to in [his] career as a player,” he “can’t emphasize how excited [he is] to start the next stage of [his] life as a coach.”

Goldenglue will debut as the 100 Thieves Academy coach in 2021.
