There are few things League of Legends players value more than their skin collection, and as funny as that sounds, it’s pretty understandable. Breaking free from the flavor of Demacia and Nocturne can give your champion far more personality, and the quality of new skins has increased massively over each season.
Unfortunately, there are a couple of League of Legends characters that have been left behind, receiving very little support since their release. If you happen to main one of these champions, you’ll likely be disappointed by their lack of themes and fashions.
Naturally, those two champions will have fewer skins since they launched so recently, but we’ve added even more champions who get no aesthetic love from the developer. Please note: there are a few champions with the same amount of skins who aren’t on this list….yet.
17 Ivern (3)
No one can really tell just what Riot was thinking when they introduced Ivern. His abilities are pretty niche and his goofy sensibilities didn’t match the overall vibe of the story at the time. But the lovable tree man has three pretty well-animated skins: Old God, Candy King, and Dunkmaster.
Much like the Fiddlesticks clown skin, the Candy King skin can be a little terrifying at times. Thankfully, there are no Chromas that can make it more nightmare-inducing.
16 Rek’Sai (3)
One of the only female Void creatures, Rek’Sai burst her way onto the rift in 2014 with her tunnels and strong jungling capabilities. Though she doesn’t see much pro-play anymore, the players who love her really love her, and for good reason. She’s the Scourge of the Desert in Shurima along with her children – the Xer’Sai.
Sadly, she has not received a new skin since 2020 when she got her Blackfrost skin. However, all of her skins are S-tier in terms of what you get for your Riot Points.
15 Illaoi (3)
The Kraken Priestess takes some learning if you want to master her tentacles (rather, the Serpent Isle God’s tentacles). She has just three skins, but two of them have a number of Chromas to choose from which helps the diversity.
Fans especially enjoy Void Bringer Illaoi for that added eldritch horror feel to her already Lovecraftian design.
14 Aurelion Sol (3)
Aurelion Sol debuted in 2016 after lots of leaks about a “sand dragon” champion design. The space doggo received his most recent skin in 2020 with the “Storm Dragon” version. That skin, along with the Mecha skin, features a number of Chromas to further customize the aesthetic appeal.
Since he doesn’t see much pro play, it’s unlikely that Riot will give Aurelion Sol a new skin for at least a year or two.
13 Taliyah (3)
Taliyah is the earthbender everyone wishes they were, but she doesn’t get a lot of love from the eSports scene. She also technically has three skins, but current players can only access two of them: Freljord Taliyah and Pool Party Taliyah. Her third skin, SSG Taliyah, got vaulted in 2018.
But the Pool Party skin does have Chromas and the animations of her abilities make the investment more than worth it.
12 Seraphine (3)
Seraphine is a much more bizarre example of a champion having three skins, because she hasn’t technically received any additional skins since her release in October 2020. Instead, this champion came out with multiple skins to coincide with her inclusion in KD/A, a digital pop group that usually receives skins around the time of the world championships.
Some might debate that she only has one skin with several styles, but they can be found as different entities in lootboxes and the in-game store, so it’s easier to count them as multiple options. There isn’t much flexibility if you don’t want a pop star, but she’s certainly more varied than most new champions.
11 Kled (3)
The top lane menace Kled could be debated as having more skins than 3, but he’s only recently been added to the three skin club with a slightly less rare event skin as his third. This would be the Halloween skin Count Kledula, which happened to be his second skin rather than a more recent Marauder Kled skin from 2021.
Unfortunately, most of these skins are pretty unexciting, still having fairly similar animations to his original form and being not too unique. Most Yordles in the game have a large number of skins, making Kled’s lack of options especially prominent.
10 Yone (2)
Yasuo’s ill-fated brother impressed LoL players with his maneuverability and panache when he launched in 2020 with the Spirit Blossom event. His correlating skin is beautifully animated with lots of ethereal style which contrasts the Battle Academia Yone skin from 2021 quite well. He’s a pretty boy in the vein of Draco Malfoy which isn’t all that off-brand for Yone, let’s be honest.
More than likely, Yone will continue to be supported by skin releases much like his brother.
9 Samira (2)
Samira sits in that sad category of League of Legends champions that sound great on paper, but are really hit or miss in actual games. Despite this, she got a new skin with the Space Groove event. Her not having more skins isn’t surprising, given how new a character she is, but was definitely quite a wait between her launch and a new cosmetic.
Despite her pirate queen looks, she hails from Shurima, but put down roots in Noxus. That makes her someone you don’t want to cross.
8 Ornn (2)
Ornn received a new skin in 2020, but other than that, the Freljordian hasn’t had anything else besides the skin from his release.
It’s strange that Ornn hasn’t gotten much considering his design; like Malphite, animating new skins for Ornn seems pretty easy in theory. Perhaps the creative team at Riot is just waiting for the right moment.
7 Kayn (2)
Kayn evidently isn’t the only champion with two skins, but he’s been in this category longer than any other character. He actually holds the current record for the longest amount of time without a new skin, having not received one since September 2018 more than a few years ago.
This is easily the most bizarre member of the list, as Kayn is easily one of the most played characters in the game. He’s got some of the most effective speed and damage of all the game’s junglers right now, and while there are tons of competing champions with less complex movesets, it’s absolutely bizarre that he’s been left alone so long.
6 Aphelios (2)
Much like Samira, fellow ADC Aphelios is very fresh in his new category, receiving only one new skin in addition to his release skin. This would be another Lunar Revel skin, meaning it’s not available during most months and players will usually only have one option in the shop.
He’s only barely ahead of Kayne in terms of wardrobe choices, but at least has more Chromas than Kayn thanks to all his costumes having multiple color variations. This gives Aphelios slightly more custom colors, but slightly less general designs.
5 Viego (1)
The Ruined King just wants his girlfriend back, sheesh. If there ever was a champion sure to be an instant classic, it’s Viego. His Mr. X style of inevitable destruction makes him powerful as both a jungler and top lane champion. Though he only has one skin right now, the Lunar Beast skin, a Pentakill skin isn’t far behind.
As Riot moves further into the 2020s, the studio is sure to keep providing the lovelorn sap more cosmetics and more story, too.
4 Lillia (1)
Eep! Lillia might be just as disliked by the community as Yuumi, but she had a stint of pro-play that bumped up her popularity and staying power. The fawn creature launched in 2020 and she’s connected to Ivern who essentially raised her. She guards and cares for dreams albeit in her own clumsy, shy way.
With just one skin from the Spirit Blossom event so far, Lillia is one of the older champions with just a single skin. But she does have Chromas.
3 Rell (1)
Horse girls rejoice: Rell is here with her horse-like steed and jousting-style lance. Though she hails from Noxus, Rell has more in common with the do-gooder Demacians as she is the self-designed “defender of the meek”. After all, her origin story involves a laissez-faire government, greedy parents, and Leblanc as her personal mentor/abuser.
Despite her compelling lore, Rell has just one skin so far: Battle Queen Rell. But there’s an unrevealed character from her story who’s sure to come back in some way soon meaning more cosmetics for horse girl.
2 Gwen (1)
Like Senna, Gwen has a part of Isolde – Viego’s lost love – in that she represents her joy. She likes to sew and make clothes, but also can cut you up pretty good with her big ole scissors. So far, she has just one skin with the Space Groove Gwen skin and its related Chromas.
However, she recently featured in the Sentinels of Light event alongside Senna, Lucian, Viego, and others. Given her importance to the lore, Riot seems to be indicating that they’ll support her with cosmetics moving forward.
1 Akshan (1)
At last, the halfway point between an assassin from Assassin’s Creed and Aladdin makes his appearance. The Rogue Sentinel has some seemingly OP abilities including the options to swing around with his grappling hook crossbow and resurrect downed allies. He released in summer of 2021 in the Sentinels of Light event.
The Cyber Pop skin sees him sporting a totally different hairstyle, but left some fans a bit dissatisfied. Wild Rift players, on the other hand, could get Battle Academia Akshan who has purple hair.
