A new trailer has been released, showing off Life is Strange developers Dontnod Entertainment’s upcoming physiological thriller Twin Mirror. The developers had previously been quiet about the project for almost two years, so it’s nice to see that the game is still alive and well – and coming soon.
The last time fans caught a glimpse of Twin Mirror was back in 2018, when an announcement trailer was shown at E3 and we got a glimpse of some gameplay during Paris Games Week. Similar to Life is Strange, Twin Mirror has many mysteries for players to uncover. However, instead of using time travel, the main character, Sam, stores information in his mind palace that he can then use to solve puzzles and uncover information.
The new trailer drops the audience into the town of Basswood and focuses on the mysteries surrounding the story. According to Twin Mirror’s synopsis:
Twin Mirror suffered from initial delays, as the first episode was supposed to be released back in 2019. In addition to rights issues, the delays are mostly due to the fact that the game is no longer episodic. Instead, the title will be released all at once. This is unlike what Dontnod has developed in the past, as both Life is Strange installments were episodic, and it has not been said why Twin Mirror will be diverting from that formula.
“Sam, a 33-year old man recovering from a recent break-up, returns to his hometown Basswood, West Virginia, for the funeral of his best friend. Understandably depressed and bitter, he feels completely out of sorts and out of place… But when he wakes up in his hotel room with a bloody shirt and no memory of his whereabouts the previous night, he embarks on a twisted investigation to find the truth.”
While no formal release date has been announced, the trailer promises that Twin Mirror will be coming soon. We do know, however, that it will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC exclusively on the Epic Games Store.
