Overwatch Summer Games is coming back, and that means new legendary skins to collect. The announcement came with a new skin for Pharah, the lifeguard skin.
Overwatch’s summer event is one of the more popular events in the game. Each year comes with new summer skins for some of the characters, and fans can play Lucio ball - Overwatch’s take on Rocket League with everybody’s favorite DJ healer, Lucio. The event starts on August 4th and runs until August 25th.
Pharah’s new lifeguard skin is just one of the legendary skins that will be available during the event. Her lifeguard skin turns her armor into lifeguard equipment. On the armor, there are floaties and a life vest. Players can also see the lifeguard symbol on parts of her armor. Another legendary skin that was revealed today was Echo’s “Surf’s Up” skin. That skin turns her wings into surfboards and gives her a new hairstyle. Both skins look fantastic and can be opened with the special loot boxes, or can be purchased individually for 3,000 credits. It is unclear who else is going to get new skins for the event, but that information shall be revealed soon, as the event starts tomorrow.
Of course, the event isn’t complete without Lucio Ball. The Olympics were supposed to happen this year before COVID-19 canceled everything. That probably means that a new Lucio Ball map will be inspired by Tokyo, Japan, where the Olympics were taking place. The first summer games event had a Lucio Ball map inspired by Rio Dejenario. Other maps have included Sydney, Australia, and Busan, South Korea.
The Overwatch Summer Games event is a staple event for fans of the game. Each summer brings the possibility that fan favorites will get a new skin for players to obtain. Lucio Ball is also an enjoyable mode to play, and its a nice break from the standard Overwatch games. With Overwatch 2 on the horizon, this might be the last summer games event before the sequel comes out. The event starts on August 4th. Good luck to those hoping to get some new legendary skins.
