The official Twitter account for Little Nightmares II has revealed a beautifully haunting promo image of the new character Mono. The sequel from Tarsier Studios and Bandai Namco was announced back in August at Gamescon 2019.

New nightmare character Mono has made an appearance to promote the sequel to the treasured puzzle platformer Little Nightmares. The image appeared yesterday on Twitter that features Mono, one of the main protagonists, standing on top of a television that’s sunk into grass in the middle of a forest clearing. The image is inviting and atmospheric that features a softness with bold colors. Leaves gently blow across the screen accompanying a soft spotlight that shines down on Mono. The image is also accompanied by the text “Wake up, Mono” suggesting that Tarsier and Bandai may announce the sequel’s release date very soon.

Fans of Little Nightmares stated that they couldn’t wait any longer and begged for the announcement of a release date. ‘Little Nightmares Theorist’ on Twitter pointed out that the new promo images look similar to a newspaper clipping featured in the first game, causing fans to raise their eyebrows. Bandai Namco are hosting the ‘Play Anime Live’ event on July 22 that plans to showcase the publisher’s upcoming PS4 and PS5 games. As expected, many fans will be tuning in with trepidation, hoping to finally get a release date to mark on the calendar.

The game’s social media accounts have been teasing the sequel’s impending release since its reveal in the fall last year. Various images, including a classroom featuring the bendy Teacher and a workbench used for ‘Takidermy,’ have been posted throughout the year. Multiple icons of the game’s concept art and character icons were also released showcasing Mono, Teacher, and Hunter as rustic illustrations. The game’s Instagram account has also been posting fan theories regarding Little Nightmares lore, including one prophecy that suggests the televisions are manipulating the minds of the city people.

Two million copies of the original game have been sold worldwide and the team at Tarsier and Bandai have been dreaming up a fresh nightmare for the much anticipated sequel. New character Mono sports a familiar outfit using a brown paper bag to cover his face whilst carrying a large key around his body. Mono will be joining Little Nightmares’ main protagonist Six as they travel towards the Black Tower.
