Loki is coming to Fortnite’s Island, according to the official Twitter account. Although the god of trickery and mischief is hard to pin down, you can usually count on him to make a grand entrance.
“It seems Mecha Cuddle Master wasn’t the only one who found their way to the Island,” wrote the Fortnite Twitter account earlier today. “Looks like a trickster snuck his way through the portal and into the Fortnite Crew this July.”
We don’t know when in July, but one suspects it’ll be sooner rather than later.
Loki’s arrival isn’t all too surprising, given Fortnite’s ongoing partnership with Disney and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, Loki leaked last month thanks to a loading screen that was included in the v16.50 update. You can clearly make out the Loki horns in the background, which is exactly the same as the horns shown in the official teaser above.
We initially speculated Loki would arrive in Fortnite alongside the Disney+ show that started on June 9, but I guess COVID is still throwing up delays even this far into the pandemic. The show is great fun, by the way, and even goes into Loki’s sexual preferences, or lack thereof (which is to say he’s game for anything).
In other Fortnite news, the Cosmic Summer event is on and brings back a whole bunch of limited-time modes and Creative Islands. There’s also new and returning cosmetics and a selection of five free rewards for completing in-game quests. These include the Brain Freeze Back Bling, Cloud Llama Board Glider, Believer Beach Loading Screen, Icy Pop Wrap, and the Lil’ Treat Emote.
Grab your in-game loot before the Cosmic Summer event ends on July 5, and catch Loki only on Disney+.
