Recently released through Steam Early Access, Lumberjack’s Dynasty - from the publisher/developer tandem of Toplitz Productions and UMEO Studios - looks to take the genre of lumberjack sim to the next level in a newly released gameplay trailer.

The trailer kicks off with the playable lumberjack overlooking a common area that, well… could use some tender love and care. From there, the player gets to work assembling scaffolding and replacing worn-out roof shingles, followed by a rebuild of one of the decks.

Vehicle control will be a feature in Lumberjack’s Dynasty, which is showcased in the drivable tractors, trucks, and heavy machinery that are shown in the trailer. We also get a glimpse of the chainsaw and the variety of trees that we can expect to chop down in Lumberjack’s Dynasty. It is a woodcutting game, after all.

Of course, Lumberjack’s Dynasty isn’t just about chopping wood and restoring buildings. And that’s what makes this particular sim stand out. Players will get to interact with other local characters around the area, taking on jobs and making connections as they progress through the game and run their milling and lumber products business.

Although the game touts RPG and life-simulation elements, we have yet to really see anything related to the family and relationship side of the game, apart from the brief glimpse of a lumberjack’s wife and child in one of the trailers on the game’s Steam page. To be fair, the game is still in Early Access and notes that the “flirting, marrying, and founding a family” aspects have not been enabled yet. However, as one of the biggest draws of Lumberjack’s Dynasty - and the main feature that sets it apart from other lumberjack games (yes, more of these actually exist) - it seems like this would be one of the first things that players would get to experience, even in the early build of the game.

At any rate, other than some rather choppy character models, the natural and man-made environments of Lumberjack’s Dynasty already look gorgeous. Here’s hoping the game’s remaining time in Early Access goes as smooth as it has so far.
