The Chicago Bears are off to a much better start than anyone outside of the fanbase suspected. As the NFL’s oldest and most storied franchise they’ve had plenty of success and failure throughout their existence with dozens of all-time greats putting on the navy and orange.
Madden 21 is out and its Ultimate Team mode allows fans to build their dream rosters, and Chicago Bears fans are no different. It’s time to look at the top 10 Chicago Bears cards that are currently available in the game so fans know what they can build their dream rosters around.
10 Eddie Jackson (82)
Eddie Jackson is arguably the most dangerous defensive player in the league solely because of his ability once he gets the ball in his hands. In 2020 he’s had two defensive touchdowns called back on plays in which the referees later apologized about an incorrect call to him that negated his return. His highest overall card in Madden 21’s Ultimate Team being an 82 is a bit disrespectful, but by the time it’s all said and done it feels like Jackson will have proven to everyone that he is one of the league’s best safeties.
9 Tashaun Gipson Sr (84)
When HaHa Clinton-Dix left during the 2020 NFL offseason the Chicago Bears were looking to fill the role of strong safety. After some time Tashaun Gipson Sr emerged as the best candidate to line up next to Eddie Jackson, the Bears prolific free safety. Not only has Gipson Sr come in and held his own, he’s been the recipient of errant quarterback throws that resulted in interceptions. Madden knew what he’d provide to an already stellar defense and gave fans an 84 overall card worth pursuing in Ultimate Team.
8 David Montgomery (84)
David Montgomery through one and a half seasons has shown promise that he could be the long-term solution to the position. Tarik Cohen provides a nice change of pace relief, but Montgomery’s violent style of running can dictate the flow of games when/if the Chicago Bears get him going. His 84 overall card provides a great look at what makes him unique and worth using. As a balanced back, he never feels like he doesn’t belong on the field and can be the every-down guy you need if you’re looking to make the most out of your resources.
7 Robert Quinn (85)
The moment the Chicago Bears signed Robert Quinn during the 2020 NFL offseason every knew the impact he could have. As a premier pass-rusher himself, having him come off the edge opposite of Khalil Mack would only help each other succeed and free up one another.
He may not be posting sack numbers, but his effort and presence have opened the door for his fellow defensive linemen. Quinn was gifted with an 85 overall card as part of the Ultimate Kickoff promotion and can immediately contribute in a 3-4 defensive scheme.
6 Mitchell Trubisky (86)
You may be wondering how a quarterback who was benched has an 86 overall card. The fact of the matter is that when Mitchell Trubisky is playing well he can make some incredible plays with both his arm and his legs. He’s never been able to string together a ton of consistent success and because of that, he was benched in favor of Nick Foles. If you’re the type of player who likes using a dual-threat quarterback then Trubisky might be an option worth looking at that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
5 Jimbo Covert (87)
The Chicago Bears are a franchise that’s known for Hall of Fame defensive players and running backs. Outside of the running back position very rarely does anyone talk about great offensive players in the Bears storied history. Jim Covert not only has an 87 overall card in Madden 21’s Ultimate Team, he has a case for being the best offensive lineman in Bears history. He managed to make the NFL First-team All-Pro twice and was selected as a member of the NFL 1980s All-Decade team thanks to his dominance which helped the Bears secure their only Super Bowl victory in franchise history.
4 Akiem Hicks (89)
If you’re even slightly into the NFL you’re likely still familiar with the likes of Aaron Donald and Fletcher Cox. Both of them are tremendous interior defensive lineman, but there’s a third that gets overlooked far too often. Akiem Hicks is the massive defensive lineman whose stature reflects that of an actual bear. It’s nice to see Madden 21’s Ultimate Team mode celebrate his dominance and game-wrecking ability via an 89 overall card that was released as part of the Veterans theme they launched in the game.
3 Kyle Fuller (89)
Kyle Fuller for years has been one of the NFL’s most consistent cornerbacks and during the 2020 NFL season, he’s shown how great of a tackler he is. This type of play isn’t common among corners, but Fuller makes it look routine on a weekly basis at this point.
He’s best served to have his 89 overall card play off-coverage in a zone scheme. At the end of the day though he’s talented enough to fit in any system and contribute as a lockdown corner who can make tackles in the open field against the game’s best athletes.
2 Lance Briggs (91)
Since the year 2000, most people would assume that Brian Urlacher is far and away the best linebacker to suit up in the navy and orange. For many of his prime years, he happened to line up next to Lance Briggs, a fringe Hall of Fame linebacker who made quite a name for himself alongside the linebacker legend. His 91 overall card came by way of a Team of the Week collection and isn’t cheap. The 7x Pro Bowl player may not be a household name, but for those in the know, he was an all-time Chicago Bears great.
1 Khalil Mack (92)
Coming in at the top of the food chain is the game-wrecker himself, Khalil Mack. His 92 overall card in Madden 21’s Ultimate Team mode was recently added to the game via their Halloween themed promotion. The “Most Feared” card for Mack embodies what most NFL offensive linemen see when lining up across from him on any given Sunday. It fits best in a 3-4 scheme where Mack can rush off of the edge and create nightmares for opposing offenses. As a limited edition card you’ll have to be lucky, or have plenty of coins saved up for the purchase.
