Mantic Games aren’t holding back their punches this month, with a bumper to bumper release schedule for their fantasy inspired Kings of War tabletop game.
Established in 2008 by Former Games Workshop Managing Director Ronnie Renton, Mantic Games have grown from a small miniature studio to a fully-fledged games publisher with licensed games Mars Attacks and Hellboy: The Board Game under their belts. They also have their own range of games, including Kings of War that was originally funded via Kickstarter back in 2012. It has since gone on to be one of their most popular wargaming IPs and has seen numerous updates.
Two factions are receiving updates this month, the Nightstalkers and Northern Alliance. Starting with the Northern Alliance we see the frosty landscapes tremble from the charge of the mighty Frostfang ridden into battle by fearless Thegns. These Thegns on Frostfangs inspire those who fight alongside and instill fear into the hearts of their enemies.
Accompanying them, troops from across the northern wilds have come in force. Northern Alliance Pack Hunters wield their javelins and bows, capable of flooring larger prey. They draw from their experience as hunters to provide essential covering fire to their fellow clansmen. Enter the Northern Alliance Clansmen With Two-Handed Weapons. Like their hunter kin, these humans are made for the Northern climes. Both tougher and stronger than the southern pansies, they fearlessly take to battle wielding their hefty two-handed weapons. Finally, the Northern Alliance Ice Naiads have ventured from their underground dens to join their alliance friends. Their weapons are deceptively strong with crystalline ice blades harder than steel, they are able to inflict much pain on their enemies.
The Nightstalker Dread-Fiend walks the frozen wastes, searching out their foes while hiding in the shadow they watch and learn. Only when they discover a weakness do they attack. First, they taint the thoughts of their prey, making them question their fears and failures. Only when the time is right do they creep through the cracks to our world and claim what is rightfully theirs. Joining them are the Nightstalker Soulflayers, Reapers who ride demonic ghostly mounts. The sound of their six hooves across the lands causes the souls of mortals to quake.
