Square Enix hosted a presentation it dubbed the Marvel’s Avengers War Table this week during which it revealed a ton about the upcoming game.
Remember earlier this year when game after game was subject to a delay? Final Fantasy VII: Remake, and Cyberpunk 2077 to name two. Those delays feel like months ago thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak, but in reality, they were so recent that some of those delayed release dates are still a long way off. Take Marvel’s Avengers, for example.
Avengers was supposed to have been released by now, but as it stands the heroes won’t be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia until September 4, 2020. This week, Square Enix held a presentation it dubbed a War Table during which it revealed a lot of information about the upcoming game. It featured two brand new trailers and played through a Thor mission in its entirety.
In terms of missions, there will be solo missions, like the Thor one, and something called War Zones. That’s when players will be able to team up with others online and complete missions together. Players who would prefer to play through the game alone, don’t panic, War Zones can be played with AI heroes instead should that be preferred.
While Taskmaster played a prominent role in A-Day, five years on, it would appear that the Avengers’ main worry is a villain named M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing). Newer Marvel fans might not be all that familiar with M.O.D.O.K. but trust us, he is more than capable of causing each and every Avengers a significant amount of bother. Although, Thor seems to handle everything the supervillain has to throw at him during the footage above.
Similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man, Avengers will feature a lot of different outfits for every hero from throughout Marvel’s entire history. So much so that Square Enix boasts everyone’s band of heroes will look completely unique. Plus, the most exciting moment of all in our opinion, the footage gave gamers a glimpse at Hulkbuster not once, but twice. Excitement hasn’t been that high for Marvel’s Avengers up until now, but this may signal the start of the ramp up as we close in on release day.
