Mass Effect 2 made several great additions to the series. This is why many fans believe that the game is superior to its predecessor. One of the inclusions was the interrupts. These are actions that you can make in the middle of scenes that affect how things play out.

If you choose to trigger them when prompted, it affects your overall morality. Some boost your Paragon score, while others help you become more of a Renegade. The evil interrupts usually have Shepard intimidate, beat up, or kill some poor soul. Here are all of the instances where those things can happen.

24 Shoot Veetor’s Screen

At the end of the Freedom’s Progress mission, you meet a terrified Quarian named Veetor. Initially, he doesn’t notice you and is instead staring at a bunch of screens.

If you pick the Renegade dialog options, you can get his attention by shooting one of his monitors using an interrupt.

23 Show Off Your Gun

Signing up to catch Archangel as Femshep will prompt the recruiter to make a sexist comment.

In response, you can get your gun out and claim it’s bigger than what he’s packing. It’s not even your most powerful weapon, but it still makes him back off.

22 Stab Cathka In The Back

Before making your way to Archangel (Garrus), you talk to Sergeant Cathka to get intel on the plan.

He’s fixing the gunship at the time and leaving his tools around in the process. You can take advantage of this by grabbing one and stabbing him with it.

21 Shoot A Mech’s Head Off

Killing Mechs in Mass Effect is always satisfying, and you get to do just that after reuniting with Garrus.

The two of you look through his sniper scope to see the enemies coming your way. And to save time later, you can headshot one of the Mechs right away.

20 Forcibly Cut Off Mordin

Instantly after meeting Mordin, the Salarian starts rambling while he figures out your identity.

You can abruptly cut his thought process short and explain your intentions. It’s very rude and no way to treat one of the series best companions.

19 Kill A Wounded Blue Suns Merc

While looking for Warlord Okeer, you come across a wounded Blue Suns Merc.

Not long after, he receives a call, and if you tell him not to answer, he’ll ignore you. But crossing Renegade Shepard is a mistake as you can then blast him.

18 Shoot Grunt

After you’ve recovered Grunt’s pod, there’s a concern that letting him out could be dangerous. In fact, he could become one of your most powerful enemies.

Once the pod opens, he pushes you against a wall. Yet, after a short conversation, you have the option of shooting him multiple times to make him stand down.

17 Punch Reporter

An infamous running gag in the original trilogy involves Shepard punching Khalisah al-Jilani.

In ME2, the reporter is standing outside of the Dark Star Lounge on the Citadel. Speaking with her creates the opportunity to hit her again.

16 Push An Eclipse Merc Out Of A Window

On Thane’s recruitment mission, you have to fight through many Eclipse Mercs.

One of them, however, you engage in conversation. And if you don’t like what he says, you can push him out of a window.

15 Punch Telon

While looking for Thane, it’s possible to find a room filled with Salarian workers.

Among the group is the courageous Telon, who points a gun at you. Although, a simple strike to the stomach is enough to drop him.

14 Threaten Pitne For

During Samara’s recruitment mission, you can get involved in a murder investigation. One of the suspects in the case is a Volus named Pitne For.

When questioning him, you’re able to make him more talkative by shoving a gun in his face.

13 Kill Elnora The Mercenary

Eclipse Mercs shouldn’t be trusted, and a Renegade Shepard understands that.

When you meet Elnora as part of Samara’s recruitment mission, she claims to be an ignorant rookie. Then she grabs her gun and fires a shot. In return, you and the squad can kill her.

12 Headbutt Gatatog Uvenk

There’s plenty of things that people don’t know about the Krogans. But something that’s evident during the games is that they show their authority through headbutts.

In Grunt’s loyalty mission, you can do the same to Gatatog Uvenk when prompted.

11 Burn Weyrloc Clanspeaker

This one shows the ruthlessness of Renegade Shepard. While searching for Mordin’s former student, Maelon, you come across a Weyrloc Clanspeaker.

He rambles on for a while before you’re able to shoot the gas pipe underneath him, subsequently burning him alive.

10 Cause Havoc For An Eclipse Squad

To betray Miranda, Niket is aided by a group of Eclipse Mercs. Although, the assignment goes bad for them if they’re against an evil Shepard.

Early into the mission, you can snap the neck of one of them before dropping explosives on some others.

9 Kill Krogan Bodyguards

While hunting Sidonis, Shepard and Garrus cross paths with a Volus and his two Krogan bodyguards.

During the conversation, the Krogans attempt to intimidate you. It’s then up to you whether the aggressive action results in their deaths.

8 Threaten Mouse

Thane’s search for his son requires you to get information from a young man named Mouse.

Of course, you can simply talk to the guy. Or you can use an interrupt to push the guy into the wall and step on his neck.

7 Elias Kelham Interrogation

The Elias Kelham interrogation during Thane’s loyalty quest includes multiple Renegade interrupts.

Triggering them all means beating and threatening the unsavory individual to extract information. It’s a little cruel, but it works.

6 Punch Stock Boy

Trailing Joram Talid while looking for Thane’s son requires speed and focus. So, when a stock boy approaches and starts to question you, it’s annoying.

You can attempt to bypass his questions, but he persists. Then you’re able to punch him in the stomach.

5 Protect Legion From Captain Kar’Danna

Mass Effect is filled with difficult decisions, but choosing to protect Legion isn’t one of them. And you have to do just that if you bring him to Tali’s trial. You’ll be stopped at the door with guns aimed at your Geth friend.

However, a Renegade interrupt will make you stand up against their captain. You’ll even threaten to breathe germs all over their Quarian ship.
