Our quick take
Mazda CX-5 - 4.0 / 5
Putting the sport into sports utility
An SUV you’ll actually enjoy driving
A limited choice of engines
A neat interior but lacking premium polish
Both touch and rotary controlled screen
Sport Nav or SE-L spec?
To recap
If you’re after a mid-sized SUV, this should go straight onto your shortlist, particularly if ‘fun to drive’ comes high on your wish-list. The new CX-5 builds on the success of the first generation, refining a winning package with a car that looks great, is good to drive, spacious and has an easy to use infotainment system. Only the less than premium interior and lack of engine choices hold it back.
