With Media Molecule’s Dreams approaching the end of its first year being fully released, the developer is ready to present its second-annual Impy Awards to outstanding creators. The first set of these awards for incredible player creations in Dreams had gone out to Early Access players who got their hands on the game before the full release in 2020.
Considering how many Dreams creators participated, and the level of quality that players released over the course of the last year, the competition is likely steep going into the Awards. While many of the awards will be chosen by Media Molecule, there are a handful of categories that fans can vote on themselves to give their favorite creators a boost.
There are twenty-three different awards going out to Dreams players and their creations, from Creator of the Year to Best VR Experience, rewarding every type of player for great achievements throughout the year. Creations like the VR Haunted Mansion could cross over between two different categories for both using horror genre as well as Virtual Reality. The full list of nominees aren’t likely to surprise members of the Dreams community, but newer fans might want to look out for some of the best that the game has to offer among the list.
The categories that players can vote on include six of the twenty-three total, including Best Curator, Hidden Gem Creator, and Community Star. These are likely the categories best lent to a community vote, as there’s only so much that the data Media Molecule has collected and its limited vision on star players can determine. Either way, there are some incredible Dreams creations that have been nominated for some of these awards, and they each deserve at least some recognition.
Voting for the community winners ends on February 4, and the full Awards will be presented on the game’s first anniversary, February 14. Both new and longtime Dreams players may want to tune in, especially for the two Hidden Gem categories, as there may be a number of creations some fans haven’t seen on display. Considering the level that some players have gone, recreating games like Halo within Dreams or even their own original content, there will likely be plenty worth tuning in for.
