Megadimension Neptunia VII will arrive on the Nintendo Switch later this summer. Probably.
If you were to name ridiculous JRPG franchises that haven’t changed in the ten years since their inception, Hyperdimension Neptunia should be right at the top of the list. The franchise has been about poking fun at the most ludicrous Japanese gaming tropes while also lambasting console gamers in general.
The games themselves are filled with an all-female cast of bizarrely clothed (and sometimes barely clothed) women that seem to take from every facet of anime known to man. Classic turn-based RPG action is as familiar as games from the early ‘90s, while the visual novel presentation provides plot points at the cheapest possible cost to animators. Because there aren’t any.
Does that make Megadimension Neptunia VII a bad game? No. If you’re a fan of JRPGs, visual novels, and an insane plot where each nation is represented by a console brand, then Megadimension Neptunia VII is going to be a blast. And pretty soon, you can play it on the Nintendo Switch.
The Switch version of Megadimension Neptunia VII arrives later this summer. It’s already out on Steam and PS4, but you hardly need that sort of hardware to play a game as simple as Neptunia. The Switch is the ideal platform for a visual novel JRPG. It’ll include all DLC except for the Million Arthur DLC, which will presumably be sold later or not at all.
