As if it needed to be said, Hideo Kojima is one of the most revered game designers in the history of the industry. Although the respected creator of the highly-esteemed Metal Gear series had a falling out with his long-time employer – Kojima and Konami split a while back – he remained diligent in the production of his final installment in the stealth-action franchise with the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
Yesterday, even though he doesn’t look a day over 30, Kojima-san commemorated his birthday as he turned 52. Interestingly enough, a lot of critics’ assessments of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain coincided with the developer’s celebration, which probably boosted Kojima’s spirits all the more, for many of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive.
The outpouring of love and support from fans and pundits alike undoubtedly put a smile on Kojima’s face. In fact, the Metal Gear Solid mastermind took to Twitter to thank everyone for well-wishes, as he promised to “keep creating” for the duration of his days on Earth.
Now that Hideo Kojima is finished with Metal Gear Solid, what do you think he has in store for fans next? With his recent collaboration with Guillermo del Toro on their Silent Hills project being axed by Konami, is it possible he’ll move on to a title rooted in horror? Or do you think he’ll take his artistry to another medium, like say, film?
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is set to release next Tuesday, on September 1, 2015 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
