This month marks the 33rd anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid series, and Jordan Vogt Roberts, the director of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid film, has decided to celebrate the occasion with a special tribute. He gathered all the key voice actors from the Metal Gear Solid series and, with their help, orchestrated a happy birthday video.
Now, usually, entertainment mediums like Metal Gear Solid don’t celebrate their 33rd anniversary. Typically they wait for their 30th or 35th, but Roberts tends to do something to pay tribute to the game whenever it has a birthday. Back in 2018, he posted Metal Gear Solid concept art every day on the month of the game’s 31st anniversary.
This month, the tribute Roberts pulled together sees voice actors of Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake, Otacon, Sniper Wolf, Colonel Roy Campbell, and Liquid singing Happy Birthday to both the Metal Gear franchise and the Metal Gear fanbase. Snake wraps up the video with a message asking society to unify and take responsibility for making the world a better place during its current crises.
Jordan Vogt Roberts will use this anniversary as well to post Metal Gear Solid concept art throughout the month. Those interested can catch it on his Twitter account. As far as the Metal Gear movie, he hasn’t had the opportunity to make any real major updates, especially now with COVID-19 in play. Hopefully, he’ll be able to provide more information about the project soon.
A Metal Gear Solid film adaptation is currently in production.
