Microids has announced that it will be adapting the popular British comic strip The Adventures of Tintin into a new game for PC and consoles. The new title will be a co-production between the game studio and Tintin organization Moulinsart. In a press release, Microids CEO Stephane Longeard said, “We are extremely happy to work on this co-production! We have been willing to make this happen for quite some time.”
Moulinsart director Nick Rodwell agreed, adding, “The upcoming PC and consoles video game inserts itself pretty well in the legacy of the most famous reporter’s adventures. Our ambition is to provide a mainstream audience with a fun and friendly game for everyone to enjoy.”
While no concrete details were given about what the game will be, a short description confirms some characters that will be present. Obviously the titular Tintin will be the player character along with his dog, Snowy, but the popular Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus characters will also make an appearance.
I’d have to imagine this will take the form of an adventure game. Tintin is perfect to adapt for such a genre, what with his detective skills being the focus of his character. At the very least, this has to be better than the ill-conceived Ubisoft game released in 2011.
