Microsoft has made its stance clear regarding Epic’s fight against Apple. The company released a declaration today in support of Epic Games and emphasized the disastrous consequences if Epic is kept from supporting Unreal Engine on iOS and macOS.
Ever since Epic filed a lawsuit against Apple, the controversy has only been escalating day by day. In the beginning, Epic’s addition of in-app purchases within the mobile version of Fortnite would keep Apple from gaining a share of the profits and in response, Apple promptly removed Fortnite from the App store.
Since then, Apple has also terminated Epic developer accounts so they can no longer support development tools on iOS or macOS. This decision has stopped any developers from working on the engine and has affected multiple games including Microsoft’s Forza Street.
In response, head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, tweeted out today regarding Microsoft’s support for Epic against Apple with a link to their declaration.
