Microsoft recently announced that although it intends to host a showcase at Tokyo Game Show later this month, it won’t be revealing any new details about the Xbox Series X.
The news comes from the official Xbox Twitter account, which recently posted a tweet pertaining to Microsoft’s presence at this year’s Tokyo Game Show - which is still going ahead in a digital capacity, similarly to how Gamescom was handled last week. Although the tech giant will be making an appearance at the show, it won’t be revealing any next-gen news this time around, and will instead focus on Microsoft Flight Simulator, Minecraft, and Japanese games and creators.
Check out the tweet from Xbox below.
The tweet also links to an official blog post, which offers additional details about what to expect from the Xbox showcase at this year’s show. The event will be livestreamed, with Xbox’s section kicking off at 9pm JST - 5am PT/8am ET/1pm BST - on September 24.
“Our presence at Tokyo Game Show will celebrate the visionary creators and vibrant players in the region,” reads the blog post. “Tune in to see the latest on games, content from our Japanese partners and players, and further details on Xbox services.”
The post also notes that the showcase is due to be broadcast in Japanese.
Although there won’t be any next-gen news revealed Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show livestream, a variety of other reveals have been confirmed. On top of featuring a celebration of Japanese game developers and the games they have made, the show is due to include a range of projects designed by the Japanese Minecraft creator community.
You’ll also get a new look at upcoming updates for the astronomically successful Microsoft Flight Simulator, which is available on Xbox Game Pass for PC, Windows 10, and Steam. Lastly, the show will feature a review of the first- and third- party announcements that have been made over the last few months.
