Mojang has been taking note of what the fans want out of Minecraft for some time now, whether that’s incorporating ideas perpetuated by the modding community or the direct feedback page.

The Minecraft suggestions subreddit even has a category dedicated to all the ideas that were implemented. Naturally, not every desire and whim of the fanbase has been implemented, but there’s always hope! Here are ten of the best and most popular fan-generated concepts that have yet to make it into the game.

10 Wandering Traders Sell Maps To Rare Biomes

As is, wandering traders don’t have much value in Minecraft other than bringing an endless, unlimited supply of leads right to your front doorstep, whether you’re knee-deep in your underground quarry or bobbing about in the ocean.

Their trades are unfair and you can’t sell them loot to get emeralds, but there is a way that they can be improved. This suggestion comes from Reddit user david_pridson who says that wandering traders should have a small chance of selling a map that leads to a rare biome such as mushroom, mesa, or jungle. Given that they “wander,” this makes perfect sense.

9 Jukebox’s Playing Cat Scare Creepers

Creepers are terrified of little felines — they’re a nice way of keeping those walking wrong-time explosive devices at bay, but what happens if you can’t find a cat?

Well, PotatoSacGamingYT pitched that, should you have a jukebox playing with the song Cat, Creepers should be too wary to come near. This is a little on-the-nose but would give jukeboxes a more obvious purpose beyond aesthetic.

8 Dog Collars That Drop Upon Death

Pets in Minecraft have evolved in spades since their introduction, with wolves no longer being the lone option as cats, horses, donkeys, and ocelots have joined the fray. Dyable collars and name-tags are just two ways that they’ve been made customizable, but why not go a step further in making them personal to the player?

It’s no surprise that, with so many deep-drops, far-out excursions, and risky lava-traversing in Minecraft, players often lose their pets. But dedelish has a neat way to honor their memories by having dogs drop collars upon death so that you always have a keepsake to remember them by.

7 A Mob That Hunts Players Exclusively Using Sound

Mojang has made it clear that they are definitely not in the camp of being hesitant when it comes to throwing more mobs into the world of Minecraft, especially with the recent Pillager and Nether updates.

So, it should come as no surprise then that plenty of fans have pitched their own concepts. Ds7777777’s suggestion is a horror treat — like the clickers of The Last of Us, Half-Life: Alyx’s Jeff, and the monsters of A Quiet Place, he posed that Minecraft should have a mob that can only detect players by noise. Closing doors only to have something from the underbelly of Stranger Things pop up would certainly add a bit more of a bump to the night.

6 Plague of Boar Enchantment

Speaking of the Nether update, Minecraft is now home to six pig mobs which, to put it lightly, is a hefty amount. There are pigs, piglins, zombified piglins, piglin brutes, hoglins, and zoglins.

With so many swine-based friends and foes, perhaps it’s time for an enchantment that makes taking them out a touch easier. That’s what johny1237 pitched in his post, dubbing it the ‘Plague of Boar.’

5 Endermen Hold Blocks Above Their Heads When It Rains

The long lanky foes who call the abyss home, the Endermen, have one singular weakness — unless you include a good axe to their knees. That weakness is water, so when it rains, all hell breaks loose.

They begin to teleport frantically and lose their minds, but GucciGooberYeah claims that they should be smarter than that. Given that they can hold blocks, why not simply have them use their stolen goods as an umbrella, protecting themselves from rainfall?

4 Pistons Being Able To Move Mob Spawners

Dungeons are a touch outdated, as are caves, mineshafts, and strongholds, so there’s a clammer for Mojang to unveil a massive underground overhaul akin to their Village, Nether, and Ocean ones, but one thing that some fans have wanted for a while now is the ability to move mob spawners.

You can already set up a mob grinder without one of these black-barred rarities, but DeltarUltima says that they should be movable by means of pistons — after all, a flying machine or complex Redstone system isn’t something your average player would know how to set up or bother to fuss around with.

3 Creeper Explosions Trigger Other Creepers

To put it lightly, Creepers are a nuisance in Minecraft, doubly so when charged by lightning, but why not amp up the heat and make them even more of a challenge?

EfficientProduct0 poses that, like TnT, Creepers should cause a chain reaction if they explode within proximity of one another. How would this be balanced? Well, like how Zombies can only knock down doors in hard, this would only happen in the highest difficulty.

2 Sound Effect To Indicate The Wrong Tool Is Being Used When Mining Ore

That initial learning curve of figuring out which tool digs which ore is something we’ve all been through in Minecraft, but accessibility and quality of life have been Mojang’s main objectives for the past few years now, as evident by the crafting book.

So, naturally, fans have jumped to support -DCPT-’s suggestion that they implement a sound effect that indicates that you are using the wrong tool for the wrong ore. For instance, when you try to mine iron ore with a wooden pickaxe.

1 The Sky Dimension

For the longest time, fans have been asking Mojang for a brand new dimension, one focused on the sky. This was no doubt fuelled in part by the Aether mod, whose creator was folded into the company to help develop the Nether update.

Nonetheless, this hasn’t stopped the desire. ChibladeWielder put together a fairly comprehensive concept using LogDotZip’s video for a ‘sky dimension’ which could be accessed by using an elytra to fly above y 1000. Like the Aether mod, there would be blue slimes. There’d even be Nether equivalents, such as angelic pigmen.
