Pixar’s Toy Story is about the power of imagination, and so is Minecraft. So it makes so much sense for the two beloved brands to collide. Thankfully, Disney actually partnered with Mojang to make it happen via an official Minecraft content pack. The Toy Story Mash-Up pack adds skins and locations from the Pixar film franchise, allowing you to live the toy life and feel very tiny.
This isn’t the first time Minecraft has mashed up with a popular media franchise. There are packs based on the likes of Steven Universe, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and many more. Basically anything that’s kid-friendly but also popular with young adults has probably become a Minecraft pack. The Toy Story one sets itself apart, however, by doing two different things. First, it gives you huge new environments where everything is oversized so that you feel like a toy. Second, it lets you immortalize Andy’s toys the way they should be. Together for infinity and beyond.
As you can see, locations are a big part of this pack. Andy’s room is a given, as is the antique shop from the recently-released Toy Story 4. Mojang didn’t stop at the most recognizable or recent, however. Al’s Toy Barn from Toy Story 2 is there in all its massive glory. The blindingly colorful day care from Toy Story 3 is accounted for as well.
The same widespread treatment is applied to character skins as well. Of course you get Jessie, Rex, and Bo Peep is both her classic and new outfits. There’s also deeper cuts, like the weird buff PEZ dispenser duck from Sid’s room and Combat Carl.
The pack comes at a great time, obviously planned that way to take advantage of Toy Story 4’s release. It just also has the nice side effect of bringing all eras of Toy Story together into one nostalgic package. If you, like me, got sad at the end of Toy Story 4 when (SPOILERS) Woody leaves all of his friends behind to go into retirement, this Minecraft pack has your back. Now you can relive the old days as if Andy never grew up and gave away his toys. In Minecraft, at least, you always do have a friend in Woody and Buzz.
