Twitch streamer Mizkif donated a whopping $2000 to fellow content creator Alec Ludford. He received the surprise donation in the middle of a cooking broadcast, clearly moved by the generous act.

Donating a large sum to someone while they are streaming can have a multitude of purposes; Sometimes it’s for a reaction, other times it’s for a bet, but sometimes it’s simply because the recipient is in need. Regarding Mizkif’s gift, it seemed to simply be an act of kindness for his friend Alec during a difficult time in his life.

Mizkif isn’t the only one who has been watching out for Alec either, as Trainwrecks also lent a helping hand in the past. Alec credited Trainwrecks for “saving him” by providing much-needed financial support at a low-point in his life.

On a surface level, streamers like Mizkif and Trainwrecks seem to have a proclivity for goofiness and, in some cases, controversy; Upon looking closer at the pair, however, it is apparent that they regularly contribute to the well-being of colleagues and viewers alike.

To catch those unfamiliar with their story up to speed, Alec recently lost his fiancée Stephanie to a battle with cancer. The couple was well-loved in the Twitch community, at Stephanie’s recent passing sent shockwaves through the community. When Stephanie passed, many were thankfully willing to step up and help out Alec during the rough time.

The trend of successful streamers giving back to the community is one that should continue in full-force; Behind-the-scenes philanthropy is always a thing of beauty, but showing a large audience the benefits of giving to others (on stream) has its place too. On the flip side, Reddit user “Jackal1810” pointed out the unfortunate positions that others often take when big streamers give to people.

Over the years, livestreaming has morphed into more than just isolated gaming sessions – it’s become a primary medium for people to witness all aspects of life. It’s great to see people help one another, reflecting hope in the wake of tragedy. Hopefully, Alec stays strong during his period of grieving and continues to receive support from the community.
