Mobalytics, a personal gaming assistant and analytics platform that analyzes in-game data to enhance player performance, has raised $11.25 million for their mission. The organization, which has built relationships with esports organizations Team Liquid, Golden Guardians and T1, helps players better understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Focusing on games like League of Legends, a multiplayer online battle arena game; Teamfight Tactics, an auto battler game; Legends of Runeterra, a free-to-play digital collectible card game; and Valorant, a free-to-play digital collectible card game, all from Riot Games, Mobalytics uses their technology and resources to level up players who might be struggling.
Founded in 2015, Mobalytics created the Gamer Performance Index (GPI), which crunches in-game data available from game APIs to develop algorithms that analyze player performance across several skill sets that are crucial for competitive gaming. The Santa Monica, California-based startup plans to use its new funding to further develop their analytics and personalization. They will also seek to strengthen their engineering team and hire new product experts in the next few months.
Mobalytics provides a desktop app, in-game overlays, and an array of other tools for players. With a community of over 6 million gamers, the organization became the official Riot Games partner for the League of Legends Scouting Grounds in 2019 and also launched breakthrough eye-tracking data analysis for Esports in a partnership with Tobii. In 2016, Mobalytics won Startup Battlefield at Disrupt SF, which focuses on discovering and launching early-stage startups, in 2016.
Led by Almaz Capital and Cabra VC with participation from HP Tech Ventures, General Catalyst, GGV Capital, RRE Ventures, Axiomatic and T1 Esports, Mobalytics managed to raise $11 million, which will be added their initial seed funding of $2.6 million.
According to Alexey Alexanov, general partner at Cabra VC, Mobalytics cannot only help gamers improve their performance but also help game publishers enhance new player onboarding. He adds that a gaming assistant can be useful to players attempting to master their favorite games, and ultimately boost player engagement, retention and revenue.
