After many rumors and leaks, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is finally upon us. The speculation from yesterday turned out to be true as Activision is now selling the fully remastered campaign mode from 2009’s hit Call of Duty entry. Possibly the most popular and successful iteration of the entire series is now playable in modern HD glory…as long as you have a PS4.
Yes, at the last minute, it seems Activision has pulled the rug out from everyone. PS4 players will have access to Modern Warfare 2 for a full month before PC and Xbox One users get a chance. Pre-orders on the other platforms are currently live, but that doesn’t really help with getting to play this. C’est la vie, I guess.
For those that didn’t even know Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was coming, this graphical overhaul includes the full campaign mode from the original game. That means the controversial “No Russian” mission is back, convoluted plotting, pointless padding and all.
Sadly, the popular multiplayer component has been axed. Unlike the remaster of Call of Duty 4, Activision is likely relegating any maps and modes to the current Modern Warfare from 2019. We’ll likely see popular MW2 levels make the rounds there in the coming weeks. That’s not really a great consolation prize for people that specifically want MW2.
