Activision is currently investigating a server outage on Modern Warfare and Warzone that is affecting every platform. The last update came in at 5:46 PDT, and there is currently no solution.
Saturday night during a wold-wide lockdown isn’t the most ideal time for server issues, but it seems that not all players are affected. While “server outage” is non-specific as to how many servers are impacted, it appears that some players, including many streamers, are still in the game.
Two weeks ago, Battle.Net experienced persistent DDoS attacks that resulted in offline Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for most of an entire day. It’s too soon to tell if this is a similar situation though, as the source of the connectivity issue is still under investigation.
Occasional server outages are to be expected, but with the state of the world right now it can be extra devastating to players needing a diversion or recreational time to blow off some steam. Thanks to Warzone, Call of Duty is one of the most popular games in the world right now, so we’re hoping that the servers come back up quickly.
We’ll update this story as the situation continues to unfold. You can follow Activision’s updates on the situation at their support site.
