After dropping an FTP battle royale mode, Warzone, last month, Modern Warfare will now be offering its regular multiplayer mode for free this weekend as well. If you’re a Call of Duty fan that has been looking for an opportunity to give the latest game a try, this is probably your best chance.

First released back in October of last year, Modern Warfare’s multiplayer has since become the most popular in the series since the days of the Xbox 360 and PS3. With polished mechanics, realistic gameplay, and a determination to return to the series’ roots, the game has brought many former Call of Duty fans back to the franchise.

It’s also worth noting just how frequently developer, Infinity Ward, has been updating Modern Warfare, constantly adding new maps, game types, and events. This, along with the optional $10 battle pass each season, has created the most rewarding Call of Duty multiplayer experience in recent memory.

With Warzone’s immense surge in popularity, Modern Warfare’s standard multiplayer platform has almost taken a back seat. It might not be as fresh and as trendy as your most recent battle royale games, but it’s still the best we’ve seen Call of Duty in a long time. If you’re the least bit interested, it’s definitely worth a try.
