Thanks to a fan project made in Dreams, Shrek is the newest character to (unofficially) join the Kingdom Hearts multiverse. While the project is still in its early stages, it is exciting to imagine where fans could take Sora and friends in the future. The Kingdom Hearts series tends to incorporate pre-existing films into its story in a modular way, which is a good fit for fan projects. Namely, Sora and his allies fight their way through retellings of each film over the course of a couple of hours....

As news broke last week over the strained relationship between famed Metal Gear developer Hideo Kojima and parent company Konami, things have apparently continued to sour between the two groups. While the Kojima Productions name has quickly been rebranded on websites, social media accounts, and even the former studio in Los Angeles, fans also began to wonder what the fate of the popular Kojima’s Station broadcast would be. Konami has at last given us an answer....

Two years ago, after the debut of the first trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, fans all over the world began to speculate about the curious new power Link exhibits in what is presumably the tomb of Ganon. After raising his hand up towards the ceiling, he emits some kind of greenish bolt of energy, striking a core and causing it to spit out the nefarious malice that plagues Hyrule in the first game....

If you’ve gotten to chapter three of Loop Hero then well done, you’ve passed the biggest spike in difficulty the game has. Chapter three is still no walk in the park - it’s more like a walk around an ever-changing death-loop designed to slowly drive you to madness. Still, the Hunter - the big bad at the end of chapter three - is beatable, but he is also the toughest boss fight so far, so you’ll need a fair bit of luck to beat him....

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 8 After last week’s rare standalone episode, Lucifer follows up with a thought provoking tale examining the struggle to remain true to oneself amidst a world obsessed with image. Featuring an exclusive dating app at the heart of the murder investigation and Monopoly metaphors woven throughout, “Chloe Does Lucifer” gets about as close to perfection as possible. The cold open beautifully crystallizes the essence of the episode....

If Mario Kart were to feature real-life cars, apparently Peach would drive a Rolls, and Mario would be racing around in a red Ferrari, naturally. It’s rather amusing to think that of all the racing game franchises out there, the most popular is one featuring fictional go-karts rather than real-life cars. Developers go out of their way to recreate true-to-life vehicles in their games that are as close to the real thing as possible....

EA has designated each day of the week for reveals of new Madden NFL 21 ratings. Each day, EA reveals the overall ratings for players for a certain position. Yesterday, the overall ratings for quarterbacks was revealed, with Patrick Mahomes becoming the first member of the illustrious 99 club. EA will be revealing the overall ratings for running backs today. Before all the running backs react to their overall ratings, one player has earned the next spot in the 99 club....

In its long history, Magic: The Gathering has explored many fantasy tropes and invented a few new ones. Everything from magical schools to treasure-hoarding dragons, Gothic horror, dwarves and all-metal worlds have been covered in this game, and it’s a remarkable universe. But anything is open to parody, and Wizards of the Coast is making sure to not take Magic too seriously. Four Un-sets have been released, all of them geared toward irreverent and creative gameplay that would be incompatible with the regular, “black-border” cards....

You might not be able to hit the beach comfortably this summer, but a new mod for Super Mario Party by JaJaZauberstab will give the plumber and his friends some rays instead. Hawky published a 15-minute video of the mod in action with the intro cutscene, mini-games, and the game board. Peach, Daisy, and Rosaline are in bikinis, while Mario, Luigi, Waluigi, and Wario are in shorts. Unfortunately, the other characters didn’t get the same treatment....

The Marvel’s Avengers game will finally be launching later this year but, ever since its unveiling at last year’s E3, it felt like it still had work to do to try and win over naysayers and those on the fence about checking the game out. Its initial reveal, while overall positive, was still met with plenty of criticism, especially for its character designs. More recently, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics held a War Table stream that gave fans a proper in-depth look at exactly how the game will work and what we can expect to be doing....

Mass Effect 3 was the culmination of almost half a decade of storytelling. Ending controversy aside, Bioware did give a satisfying send-off for a lot of the beloved characters that players grew to love over the RPG trilogy. Some though can bite the dust and one of those characters is the scientist Salarian: Mordin Solus. For most, Mordin sacrifices himself to cure the genophage, the disease that has been affecting the war-hungry Krogan for centuries....

We still have to wait a little more than a year (if we’re lucky) to see a new vision of Batman make his way to the big screen. That’s when Robert Pattinson dons the cape and cowl in The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves. Reeves isn’t just directing The Batman, he also co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin. Den of Geek caught up with Tomlin to discuss the screenplay he wrote for Project Power, a superhero-esque action movie that arrives on Netflix later this week (you can read our full Project Power-centric interview with Tomlin here), and the writer gave us some tantalizing hints about what might be in store for The Batman....

The gaming industry isn’t without scandal or controversy, and that sometimes involves mud-slinging. Other times, rivalries emerge which end up forging new, perhaps even better paths. Anything is possible in the world of gaming, though, and the proof can be seen in the Bethesda-Obsidian controversy. Now, however, that controversy has turned into something that could one day bear fruit, hopefully in the form of Fallout: New Vegas 2. One of last night’s largest announcements during the Tokyo Game Show’s 2017 PlayStation press conference was Square Enix’s Left Alive. While the game was announced with only a short and simple teaser trailer, details regarding the game’s creators and gameplay have driven excitement over the announcement. Left Alive is described as a Front Mission successor, a survival action shooter with mechs, made by the producer behind the popular Armored Core franchise....

According to Microsoft’s latest financial results, the company’s gaming business increased its revenues for the quarter ended December 31, 2020, by 51% as a result of the Xbox Series X|S launches in November. Xbox hardware earnings jumped 86%, while Xbox content and services revenue rose 40%, thanks to the release of new first and third-party titles as well as Game Pass subscriptions. The More Personal Computing division, which includes Windows and Surface products, reported an increase in revenues of 14% to $15....

This console generation is finally starting to wrap-up, which has prompted many gaming companies to begin looking to the future of their platforms. Microsoft is one of these companies, though it seems to have a much clearer vision of where the games industry is headed and how it intends to survive in a shifting market than some of its competitors. Speaking with a room full of journalists in Microsoft’s headquarters, CEO Satya Nadella outlined plans for the tech giant’s future, stating that the company intends to become the “Netflix of games” through the upcoming Project xCloud, which will allow users to stream a vast library of games to nearly any device....

The Middle-earth: Shadow of War marketing campaign is heating up, and today’s contribution is a brand new trailer introducing the voice talents of Kumail Nanjiani. Nanjiani will be voicing an orc known as The Agonizer in the game. The Agonizer is a startlingly intelligent orc that appears to struggle with confidence issues. As such, he’s more than willing to stick players’ heads on a pike, but he might struggle delivering the quip telling them he’s going to do so....

Writer/director Ari Aster stunned horror fans in June 2018 with his feature debut, Hereditary, a genuinely unnerving and frightening film that fused a dysfunctional family drama with a dread-soaked take on supernatural possession. But even before cameras rolled on Hereditary (which struck a nerve with general audiences as well, becoming the highest grossing film ever released by indie A24), Aster had been working on a project broader in scope but no less disturbing....
