A new addition to the historic Madden franchise is releasing this week and it wouldn’t be a Madden game without changing some button inputs around. A small but incredibly important football move has been changed from Madden NFL 20 to Madden NFL 21 and it could lead to a costly error if players aren’t up to date on the new controls. Not knowing how to slide with a quarterback in the newest game could lead to game-altering fumbles and possibly a few broken controllers....

The newest trailer for Madden 21 has been released and gives a first look at gameplay and new features. After delaying the first look at Madden 21 over social justice protests, the gameplay reveal trailer gives a preview of a fresh new ball-carrier system and several other features that could improve upon the previous titles. The trailer highlights many top players and the first look at their new jerseys, with greats like Tom Brady and rookies Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, and Chase Young featured, giving fans a first look at them with their new teams....

We’re still a few months away from the release of Mafia: Definitive Edition, but we’re starting to get a clearer picture of how this remake is shaping up. In an interview with USGamer, Hangar 13 president and CCO Haden Blackman spoke about how the team approached touching up this PC classic and what differences players can expect when the game releases in August. The biggest takeaway is that the cops won’t be as stupidly aggressive this time out....

Magic: the Gathering Arena, Wizards of the Coast’s online version of Magic: the Gathering, has released M20, the most recent expansion in the game. However, this rollout did not go according to plan, as players have complaints about the new rewards system, low frame rates, and shoddy server connections. Modder and YouTuber RiazorMC creates a mod for Mario Kart Wii that reskins a racer with six pallbearer Marios carrying and running with a coffin resembling that of the Coffin Dance Meme. The Coffin Dance Meme as it’s famously called features six Ghana pallbearers with a coffin over their shoulders walking and carrying it with a funky, groovy step in their strut as seen here. The techno music accompanied with it — Astronomia by music producers Vicetone and Tony Igy, together with the upbeat dancing, finished off with an abrupt cut moments before impact, provides a rather humorous and light treatment of an otherwise unfortunate event....

I wasn’t really that fussed when I first heard about Mario Land. For one thing, it’s in Japan, and in these pandemic hit times, even a trip down the road sounds adventurous, so I may as well get excited for a new line of moon rocks - there’s the same chance of me ever seeing them than there is of me going to Mario Land. Metal Gear Survive hits the ground running with microtransactions, including a particularly pricey fee just to play a second character. When players first load up the game, they’ll find that they have only one character slot available to them. To have the ability to create additional characters, they will have to pay 1000 SV Coins, a currency that can only be obtained with real world money. The futuristic post-apocalyptic Metroidvania game Haak has likely flown under many gamers’ radar. Haak was announced in May 2019, but news has been relatively slow from developer Blingame. That’s now clearly due to Blingame being hard at work getting Haak ready for Early Access, which is now confirmed to be launching on September 16. Haak will be exclusively available on Steam, to start. Little is known about Haak’s story, setting, and even its protagonist, as all that Blingame is willing to say so far is that Haak means black in Cantonese, which is “the key colour of our protagonist, as well as the game aesthetic....

Players complaining that Microsoft didn’t have enough exclusive content will be happy as Microsoft took the world by storm with their E3 presentation. The Xbox One has raised the bar in terms of its library and future outings, and it now falls to the other companies to catch up with them. Warner Bros. released a new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War this morning to showcase how a player’s moment-to-moment choices will have consequences in-game. The live-action trailer is interactive, meaning viewers will be able to click on links within the video to simulate in-game decisions. The links will lead to more videos where the consequences of each decision will play out. The interactive trailer is a great introduction to Middle-earth: Shadow of War’s updated Nemesis System, which will be much more directly intertwined in the sequel’s gameplay....

Mihoyo’s titles will collide in an upcoming crossover event between its two gacha games, Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd. The studio announced that Honkai will receive a few visitors from the Genshin Impact universe in the game’s 4.9 update. The announcement came during Honkai Impact’s 4.9 live stream, confirming that Mihoyo’s biggest titles would finally collide. Redditor Duocean highlighted a few of the game’s biggest crossover surprises, like the addition of Keqing and Fischl in Honkai Impact, also noting that Honkai’s Rozaliya was featured in the key art....

Mimic may not be one of the more widely-discussed titles in the ‘90s movies conversation these days, but the 1997 horror film—an early blockbuster attempt from a certain upstart director named Guillermo del Toro—is about to reenter said conversation on the back of a developing reboot television series. All the way back during last year’s Comic-Con, a plucky little sci-fi show about a killer AI had its premiere episode debut in anticipation of its upcoming release. And then…silence. Now, more than a year later, Fox has finally revealed that NeXt is scheduled to premiere on October 6. Starring John Slattery of Mad Men fame, NeXt features a 24-esque storyline in which the hero teams up with a cybercrime task force to take down a murderous AI....

Venti fans should be happy today as the Genshin Impact YouTube channel showcased a beautiful illustration featuring the hero. A calming musical EP called “Genial Breeze of Hope” plays with it to accompany the piece. The video features three songs from the game’s soundtrack: “Genshin Main Theme,” “Twilight Serenity,” and “Dream Aria.” The pieces are all delightfully orchestrated by Yu-Peng Chen, and they will bring a sense of calm to your day....

MGM and PlaySide Studios are teaming up to create a Legally Blonde mobile game based on both the original Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. An official release date is yet to be announced, although it will be available as a free-to-play title on both iOS and Android. I’m not sure anyone was dying to get their hands on a Legally Blonde mobile game, but the timing does seem appropriate....
