It’s certainly a good time to be a Star Wars fan. Between the recent sequel trilogy and the bevy of new show and game announcements, with at least 10 new projects confirmed at Disney’s recent Investor Day event. No matter what flavor of Star Wars audiences prefer, there will be something that suits their particular interests. One of the projects that has been known for longer than investment day, however, is the upcoming Obi-Wan show, which is set to see Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprise their roles from the prequel trilogy of films....

This review contains Line of Duty spoilers. Like a plump Christmas stocking, the real treats of series six have worked their way down to where we are now – somewhere around the heel. Having dutifully unwrapped the first couple of episodes and politely smiled at the satsumas and novelty tissues, we’ve reached the really good stuff. Episode four was nothing but single malt miniatures and Hotel Chocolat, both of which, incidentally, would be excellent ways to recover our nerves after all that excitement....

Series co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko (who are know co-chiefs of Avatar Studios at Nickelodeon) said they loved the concept of a brother and sister with very different personalities, where the girl was a talented bender and the boy wasn’t....

The last Mafia update revealed stunning new Mafia: Definitive Edition gameplay. It’s been a little over a month since then, but Hangar 13 has taken to social media to announce that it will reveal a new Mafia: Definitive Edition trailer during Gamescom’s 2020 Open Night Live, which will take place on August 26. Gamescom Open Night Live is an event hosted by reporter Geoff Keighley. This year will mark the event’s second occurrence....

Everyone who plays Magic: The Gathering knows that tribal decks are a lot of fun, especially in the commander format. There is such a huge pool of cards to pull from that you could make endless combinations of decks circling around classic creature types like zombies, wizards and vampires. In the 2017, one of the pre-built commander decks was Feline Ferocity; a cat tribal deck with three brand new commanders. Cat decks are typically Selesnya and some popular mechanics they evolve around are equipment and life gain....

Video games offer players the chance to do everything from become a goofy animal to rampage like there’s no tomorrow. Maneater, which has released early access copies this May, allows players to do both at the same time as they play a shark. Most of what everyone needed to know about the game was answered in Maneater’s hilariously violent debut trailer, and now players can experience it for themselves. Actual gameplay for Maneater involves players swimming through the ocean as a shark while devouring just about everything they come across....

Spider-Man is definitely one of Marvel’s most popular superheroes. Spidey went from being a comic icon to becoming a full-fledged Hollywood superstar, garnering countless of fans in the process. However, portraying Spider-Man on the silver screen isn’t as easy as depicting him in the comics. Spidey isn’t just a one-dimensional superhero after all since his alter-ego, Peter Parker, is quite a complex individual. As if Spider-Man’s life isn’t complicated enough as it is, he even has to deal with a slew of sinister criminals with their own set of menacing powers....

Marvelous has partnered with Xbox and Unity for a new initiative, Indie Game Incubator (IGI), to foster development in the Japanese indie gaming scene. The initiative began in 2021 with Marvelous, while Xbox and Unity are new to the cause. In a Famitsu interview (translated on ResetEra), Marvelous noted that while plenty of these programs exist in Europe and the US, this is the first initiative of its kind in Japan....

Even though Mass Effect Andromeda, one of the most anticipated releases of 2017 so far, has finally landed, it has had a tough week over criticisms that have continued to rise over some stiff facial animations and awkward animations thanks to some less than flattering memes. YouTuber DTakes23 took it upon herself to give fans a few tips and tricks for improving many of the default face preset problems, making for a better player experience....

Though Bioware has been on a bit of a freefall in recent years, fans are still highly anticipating the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise. Those who opt to play Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2020 will be met with a game that’s simply good in its worst moments after a series of updates since its release. Fans were left wondering where the franchise will go with its next entry and if Bioware still has the magic left in them to release another all-time great....

Many fans are excited for the highly anticipated Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. A few are doing more than just anticipating, such as recreating the original trilogy in in 90s-style pixel art. A few years ago, a group of fans created a point-and-click Mass Effect adventure game. Now, inspired by the upcoming Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, they are embarking on a pixel art “demake” in the style of classic LucasArts adventure games....

Media Molecule’s PlayStation 4 creation tool Dreams is finally getting support for PSVR, starting during the month of July. Dreams first launched on February 14, 2020 for the PS4, and it’ll eventually make its way to the PS5 when the next-gen console launches later this year. This long-awaited PSVR support comes as part of a free expansion for Dreams. Media Molecule is calling this expansion “Inside The Box,” which includes tutorials, kits, and anything else players might need to both make and play games using Dreams on the VR console....

The Wii U’s North American launch is just days away, but right now another console is making headlines. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Xbox LIVE, Microsoft has been sending free, custom Xbox 360s to a select group of long-standing Xbox LIVE subscribers. Talk about a great thank you gift! The first of these custom Xbox 360s began showing up on the doorstops of lucky, longtime Xbox LIVE subscribers at the beginning of the week, but at the time, Microsoft hadn’t said anything about it....

Mixer, Microsoft’s streaming service introduced in January 2016, is shutting down after four and a half years of hosting streams. Mixer is the second most popular streaming service in terms of streamers and downloads behind Twitch. Going into 2020, Mixer had nearly four million unique channels and home to some of the top streamers in the world. Along with the announcement of Mixer’s shutdown, Microsoft also announced a new partnership with Facebook Gaming as a replacement for Mixer....

Gamers were appalled to discover a game entitled The Suicide Forest listed on the Xbox Live Creators Collection based upon the infamous video uploaded by YouTuber Logan Paul. Microsoft has responded to the complaints quickly, pulling the game from the online store. The game’s name is based off of Aokigahara, a forest in Japan which is notorious for its high suicide attempt rate. Logan Paul recently filmed footage of a deceased person there and subsequently released it on YouTube....

Last year, Microsoft had a major presence at the Tokyo Game Show, the world’s second largest video game convention and fan expo. Leading up to the event - which was held just a few days after the Xbox One’s Japanese debut - Microsoft executives teased a slate of “full Japanese games.” The final list included western-developed titles like Sunset Overdrive, Ori and the Blind Forest, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as well as native Japanese games like D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die and Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires....

In many ways, Middle-earth: Shadow of War looks set to be a very conventional “bigger and better” sequel to Shadow of Mordor. However, the follow-up is set to introduce several brand new gameplay mechanics and a few new characters, including the not-so-familiar face of Shelob. Some Lord of the Rings fans were a little shocked when the design for Shelob, as she appears in Shadow of War, was revealed earlier this year....

While the future has become uncertain for the Darksiders franchise, former Vigil Games Creative Director Joe Madureira is shedding light on what could have been. More specifically, Madureira has provided a clue as to where the franchise might have gone in Darksiders 3. As most suspected, and Madureira now reveals, 4-player co-op was always planned for Darksiders. Obviously it didn’t happen with Darksiders 1 or 2, but Madureira suggests it might have been possible with number 3....

Console gamers are experiencing serious issues in Just Cause 3, with load time up to 15 minutes and framerate dropping to 17fps if they play for longer than an hour. One of the most exciting games of the year may be having serious issues for gamers on Xbox One. According to a report from NX Gamer, the Xbox One version of Just Cause 3 experiences serious load time issues and framerate drops when played for extended periods of time....

Persona 5 Royal is an excellent update to the original game, providing a bunch of quality-of-life changes, enhanced systems, and a whole new semester that includes a riveting protagonist and some of the most epic moments in the game. It goes without saying that any person who decides to try out Persona 5 Royal will be more than happy with the overall experience — one that lasts for hundreds of hours, if not more!...
