Not to toot my own horn, but I’m something of a connoisseur of doomed video games. I can’t explain exactly why, but the deeper I fall in love with a new online game, the more likely it is that game will fail miserably. Games like Rocket Arena, Crucible, and QC Games’ Breach never stood a chance once they got their hooks in me. I don’t necessarily believe I’m some kind of video game harbinger of death, but I’ve seen enough games fail that I’ve learned to pick up on the signs and patterns that indicate when a game is in its death throes....

The gaming community has tried to stay optimistic, but there’s no doubt that the messy split between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Konami could cause some problems for upcoming installment in the espionage franchise. The game is enormous and aims to deliver dozens of hours of action in the core campaign, along with a robust online experience. Although the core game hasn’t suffered from any serious delays yet, it sounds like Metal Gear Online may not be ready to launch with the rest of the game’s features on day one this September....

Konami brand manager Richard Jones reveals that the controversial 4-player co-op Metal Gear Solid spinoff game Metal Gear Survive will not be sold at full price. Metal Gear Solid fans have been nervous about the future of the franchise since series creator Hideo Kojima left Konami last year. And judging by the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the Metal Gear Survive reveal trailer yesterday, many feel as though their lack of faith in Konami is justified....

Microsoft might be set to cancel some of its hardware device portfolio in the coming months as the company seeks to restructure amid layoffs and ongoing economic concerns. Microsoft announced that it is laying off 10,000 people and also went so far as to hint at changes to its hardware lineup. While CEO Satya Nadella hasn’t yet made it clear what that actually means, the suggestion is that we could see some hardware projects fall by the wayside as Microsoft works to cut costs....

Paul W.S. Anderson’s latest video game film adaptation starring his wife Milla Jovovich (the man certainly has a specialty) is Monster Hunter. The film, which is an adaptation of the Capcom series about hunting giant, dangerous beasts, has nailed down an official release date of December 30th, 2020. That means that Milla Jovovich will be clashing her giant, absurdly impractical weaponry against Gal Gadot’s magic shield, as Monster Hunter will be releasing to theaters in the same week as Wonder Woman 1984....

Riot Games has announced the newest champion coming to League of Legends with an amazing new cinematic trailer that introduces players to the new story and lore surrounding Yone. The animation also does a pretty decent job of showing off Yone’s abilities, giving players a stylized vision of what they can expect when controlling the new champion. This certainly isn’t the first time that Riot has released an animation for League of Legends as a way to introduce players to new champions, tournaments, and even skin packs....

Square Enix hosted its Square Enix Presents showcase today, revealing all kinds of new games and details about its upcoming projects. Prior to the event, Square Enix teased that Life is Strange 3 was going to be announced, and it followed through on that promise. As revealed by Square Enix, Life is Strange 3 is officially titled Life is Strange: True Colors, developed by Deck Nine with a September 10 release date for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X....

Limited Run Games has announced physical editions for Shantae and the Seven Sirens. The new Shantae title is finally sailing to consoles later this month. The series has received three games since the original title on Game Boy Color, and each has earned positive reception WayForward is aiming for Seven Sirens to be the grandest game in the series. The company said Limited Run would be releasing physical editions of the game, and now pre-orders are on their way....
