The Legend of Mana was originally released in 1999 for PlayStation, so a new remaster this many years later is an exciting announcement from Square Enix. During the Square Enix Presents event, the trailer began with serene music, and it continued to show off the fantastic, anime-style animation. The trailer also included wondrous woods with talking trees, never-before-seen creatures, and talking rock landscapes. It also displayed a large map, though the map was empty, so it’s likely that the game will span across many different locations that you must uncover as you go....

Gollum is coming back! Well, sort of. Andy Serkis is narrating an audiobook of The Lord of the Rings. “In May 2020, Andy Serkis—who played Gollum in both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies—returned to Middle-earth for an epic read-aloud of The Hobbit that lasted 11 hours straight and raised more than $400,000 for COVID-19 relief efforts. After this so-called #Hobbitathon ended, Serkis went on to record an actual audiobook edition of the novel for HarperCollins UK....

Layoffs are a sad reality of the gaming industry, as Agents of Mayhem developer Volition faced some layoffs a few months ago. Now, it seems that Mafia III developer Hangar 13 faces the same fate but to a potentially higher degree. While Volition faced around 30 layoffs, Hangar 13 is rumored to have lost a significant number of its staff (exact numbers haven’t been specified). According to one source familiar with Hangar 13, the studio has spent the past year trying to figure out its next project....

One of GameStop’s largest stockholders sent a letter to the board of directors on November 16, calling for a “strategic review of the business,” and asking for a clear plan for evolving the brand. Ryan Cohen sent the letter on behalf of his venture capital firm, RC Ventures, which owns a substantial 9.8% share in GameStop. The letter implores the company to maximize stockholder value by taking advantage of the growing video game industry....

Man of Medan is going to be the first of eight games from Until Dawn creator Supermassive Games, and will also be the first to introduce multiplayer game modes too. As anyone who works as a film critic or journalist can attest, Nicolas Cage has starred for years now in a seemingly endless succession of movies that have gone largely straight to VOD or home video (with a few exceptions, and even those were not exactly wide releases). As a free-to-play ARPG/MMORPG hybrid starring some of the most famous characters in the Marvel universe, Marvel Future Revolution has to be considered one of the most surprising mobile games of the year. While Marvel Future Revolution features some of the more unfortunate qualities we associate with the mobile gaming scene (quite a few cosmetic microtransactions, simplified controls, and occasionally limited gameplay) it’s actually a fairly robust RPG in its own right that might even be better than Square Enix’s Avengers game....

Marvel’s Avengers is looking to make a major turnaround, following a rough release last year that failed to earn back production costs and was met with mixed critical reception. The path to profit for the series is now firmly centered on upcoming DLC releases, and the closest of these will be Hawkeye’s DLC releasing on March 18. As Kate Bishop’s DLC proved back in December, no single DLC is going to totally right the ship for Marvel’s Avengers, and fans are anxious for their favorite heroes to make it into the game....

Believe it or not, Marvel’s Spider-Man released on the PlayStaion 4 two years ago today. That’s right, the best selling PlayStation exclusive is celebrating another birthday and to commemorate the occasion, a new limited print variant is releasing in collaboration with Grey Matter Art and freelance artist Chun Lo. The piece shows Spider-Man in his Anti-Ock suit that’s been put through the ringer with his Insomniac Game’s designed suit underneath. The piece is 18’’ x 24’’ with a varnish finish, and encompassing 9 colors with metallic inks....
