Birds of Prey was one of the best films of 2020—a bright, bold super-powered film that blew the Bechdel Test right out of the water in fun, unexpected, and creative ways (I am still not over the mid-fight hair elastic request). Unfortunately, the R-rated, Harley Quinn-driven girl gang movie did not blow the box office away. While our very own David Crow wrote an excellent piece about how Birds of Prey was not the financial flop that parts of the media made it out to be, it wasn’t the next Deadpool either, leaving the future of this corner of the DCEU in question....

Marvel Avengers has to be the most mediocre game of the year considering the hype that was surrounding it. The game was released on the fourth of September 2020, after a month of closed and open beta testing. During this time a lot of people have assumed that most of the issues with beta will be fixed by the time the final version comes out. In reality, not much changed, and that directly translated into the game’s review scores....

We thought we couldn’t be more excited about Spider-Man: Miles Morales until Game Informer went and released a new gameplay video that showcases Spider-Cat in action. We’re not going to lie, the following story is very cute. It seems that at some point during his adventure, Miles Morales will be tasked with rescuing a local bodega cat who, for unknown reasons we won’t pry into in accordance with the laws that dictate our ability to interfere with the business of bodega cats, has found himself trapped in a warehouse full of thugs....

High-flying healer Mercy is receiving a new Legendary skin for the fourth Overwatch Anniversary event, developer Blizzard revealed today. The aptly-named Dragoon Mercy skin will be available when the event goes live on May 19th. The new Mercy skin was teased earlier this month by Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan, who revealed in a Q&A event on Discord that the support hero has a “cool skin coming up.” Dragoon Mercy has now been unveiled just a couple days before the 2020 Overwatch Anniversary event launches....

Following Microsoft’s unveiling of the Xbox One, a majority of gamers were disappointed by the lack of focus on games for the Xbox 360’s successor. Only two first-party titles were shown off for the next-gen box, but the conference itself held a greater focus on the television and sports aspect of the new console. One UK company, apparently knowing just how popular Minecraft is, wants to put a few of its top players to work. A UK garden shed review site called WhatShed is expanding into Minecraft. The company wants to start working with virtual garden sheds in the game. In order to make the move as smoothly as possible, it is looking to hire a seasoned veteran for the sandbox building title....

The Resident Evil 4 HD Project has been around for a while, but it’s still updating. Today, the project shared an update on the mod, revealing a completely remastered version of Resident Evil 4 minigame, The Mercenaries. A member of the RE4 HD Project team shared over an hours worth of gameplay in the latest update. Comparing the textures to the original, everything is brought to life, especially the character models who are looking a whole lot less 2005....

Looks like Leisure Suit Larry is about to shimmy his way over to consoles next month. Publisher Assemble Entertainment and developer CrazyBunch have announced that the recent entry in the series, Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice, will launch digitally for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on May 18. The original game, Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, launched back in 2018 on Steam. It centered on ’80s point-and-click adventure star Larry Laffer as he wandered into a time machine that brought him to the present day....

HBO confirms season 4 of True Detective, now with the subtitle Night Country, and the series’ two series leads. “Time truly is a flat circle, baby, because True Detective is back. HBO has officially ordered a fourth installment of the acclaimed drama series, titled True Detective: Night Country. Actor and world champion boxer, Kali Reis, is set to star alongside Jodie Foster, whose role was announced in May. Reis made her acting debut in sex trafficking revenge thriller, Catch The Fair One....

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Kensuke Tanabe, producer of Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Yoshihito Ikebata, the game’s supervisor, discussed the popularity of Mario’s little brother and how the game’s hotel setting helped to create unique atmospheres for each level. The interview opens with a discussion about the popularity of Luigi. In the presentation for Luigi’s Mansion 3 it was mentioned that the series has been very popular.
