I think we’re all still reeling from the announcement of Metroid Dread just moments ago, but Nintendo isn’t waiting to capitalize on that excitement. Shortly after the game was revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct, the official Nintendo of America Twitter account announced that an amazing-looking collector’s edition will be released alongside the game in October. While possibly not the most elaborate of packages, this collector’s edition will come with an exclusive steelbook case, an artbook of Dread, and five different cards that span the 2D saga....

Last month, news broke that AT&T may be putting one of Time Warner’s gaming division, otherwise known as Warner Bros. Interactive, up for sale. Despite the popularity of WB Games, which include the Batman Arkham series, Injustice, Mortal Kombat, and more, AT&T has a cumulative total of about $165 billion in debt from when it purchased Time Warner. Investors are calling for sales of non-core assets—this sale would net the company upwards of $4 billion alone—but it’s worth noting a deal like his could take months at least....

The Boom Studios Power Rangers comics have given us things the TV show never could. Hundreds of Rangers in combat on the moon, monsters impossible even for Toei to create, and storylines that we could have only dreamed of. However, one of the best things to come out of the Boom comics are the Zord battles. As cool as they are in the show, the ability to render a Zord battle on the drawn page is something to behold....

The video game industry isn’t always a perfect world where developers have every opportunity to follow their dreams and succeed. The market is driven primarily by money, and even the most famous directors aren’t safe from developers deciding their time is up. Whatever the circumstances, sometimes developers aren’t able to directly pursue sequels to the games that made them famous. Even then, when that happens, gamers are treated to an exciting new possibility: spiritual successors....

Minecraft is characterized by its multiple gamemodes: creative, survival, adventure, and spectator. While the first two are quite self-explanatory, adventure and spectator are often misunderstood or simply not well-known by players. Spectator mode was something that Mojang introduced for Java Edition back in 1.8, so it has been around for quite some time. It’s a mode that doesn’t see much utility unless used by server administrators or by players after dying in their hardcore survival world....

Minecraft Dungeons has just received its first major balancing patch, version 1.3.2.0. Alongside the introduction of the Jungle Awakens DLC, there were also several changes made to enchantments, gear, and more. The most striking thing about these patch notes, however, is the rework of the way souls work. Souls have always been a pretty powerful and fun option for players, but they were somewhat restrictive. Now they are even more viable and allow for an even wider variety of play styles, so it is likely that they will receive a spike in usage in the coming weeks....

It matters quite a bit to sports players how they’re presented in officially licensed sports games, whether it be NBA games or WWE professional wrestling games. An excellent, and hilarious example, comes from MLB player Joey Gallo. Gallo’s a third baseman for the Texas Rangers and, like most, he’s staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. When Valve launched its paid-for mod scheme last week, the developer could never have expected the level of backlash it received. The program, which would have seen Skyrim modders receive payment for their fan-made content, was pulled almost immediately amidst almost entirely negative feedback. PC gamers critical of the scheme cited issues with a lack of quality control, and were proved right when one of the earliest mods available had to be removed due to stolen assets....

The Just Cause video game franchise has always felt like the big-budget Hollywood blockbusters of the past, and it now appears that itself will become one very soon. The Just Cause film adaptation has found itself a director, in the form of Michael Dowse (Stuber, Goon). Dowse is set to helm the production, which will be a co-production between both Constantine Film and Prime Universe. The film’s script is reportedly penned by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad....

The Just Cause franchise isn’t the most well-known video game series out there, but that’s not stopping Hollywood from adapting it into the next video game movie. Aquaman and Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa is attached to play the lead role of protagonist Rico Rodriguez, with the film to be directed by Brad Peyton of San Andreas fame and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The script for the Just Cause film will be penned by John Collee, known for his work on Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World....

There are a number of Heartless that have continued to appear in multiple Kingdom Hearts titles after their first appearance, either in the original game or it’s many sequels and spin-offs. However, while some enemies like Kingdom Hearts’ shadows have stuck around throughout the series, the fan-favorite Invisibles has failed to appear in later titles. These enemies have appeared in a handful of the later titles that retread over previous Kingdom Hearts games like Chain of Memories and Union X, but the Invisibles haven’t been seen outside of these past references....

The director for developer and publisher Square Enix’s forthcoming action-RPG, Kingdom Hearts 3, discusses the enhancement of the game’s combat system. Ever since Kingdom Hearts 3’s announcement at E3 2013, fans have been clamoring for as much information about the forthcoming entry in the Disney-centric action-RPG franchise as possible. However, the game’s creators have been maintaining a good deal of radio silence as of late when it comes to a the sequel’s current state in the development process....

A new leak shows Kratos coming to Fortnite as a skin in Season 5, which raises the question of whether Nintendo or Xbox characters will join him? Season 5 of Fortnite has already been the subject of leaks, including the reveal that the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda are coming to the game. A recent leaked image uploaded by HYPEX on Twitter shows what appears to be a skin of Kratos from God of War that is coming to Fortnite....

Day one of the Guerrilla Collective has wrapped up with a slew of newly announced games out in the wild. One of the most unique games shown at the digital event was Lake, a third-person mail delivery indie game published by Whitethorn Games. Developed by Gamious, players take control of Meredith, a 40-something career-driven woman who decides to take a break from her day to day and return to her hometown....

While Modern Warfare 3 may be the eighth game in the core franchise, it will still be the first Call of Duty game for many players, which of course means plenty of cannon fodder for veterans. But in the latest live action Modern Warfare 3 trailer, Activision shows us why being nice to a noob just may be the right thing to do. The trailer features a star studded cast consisting of Sam Worthington, Jonah Hill and Dwight Howard....

Due to the complex nature of the game, League of Legends might confuse some of the players with how the power cap works in the game. New players especially might feel very confused on why or how their early dominance suddenly faded away. This trade-off that most early and mid-games champions do can be quite frustrating to those who do not understand the power dynamics of a complex MOBA. It’s been quite some time since Square Enix officially revealed its third-person survival action shooter Left Alive during Tokyo Game Show 2017, and following its availability in Japan, the game has now reached its worldwide release date for PC and PlayStation 4. In order to prepare potential players for what the title will have to offer, the video game publisher and developer has officially released Left Alive’s launch trailer, which highlights the three protagonists, brief story beats, mech gameplay, and more....

Traveller’s Tales, the game studio behind numerous LEGO titles, spent $1 million on a Lord of the Rings game pitch that never released, according to the studio’s founder, Jon Burton. Burton revealed new details and gameplay for the Lord of the Rings game over on his YouTube channel, GameHut, and even for a title on the Xbox 360 and PS3, it looks incredibly impressive. Burton showed off a few different aspects of what the game could have been, from Frodo sneaking around attacking Uruk, to Gandalf’s battle with Saruman....

20th Century Studios has found their leading men for the reboot of White Men Can’t Jump. “20th Century Studios has tapped Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow to star in its reboot of White Men Can’t Jump. The remake was first announced in 2017, when Blake Griffin and Black-Ish creator Kenya Barris signed on to develop the project.” Read more at Hype Beast The fictional city of Madripoor, last seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, was referenced in the most recent episode of Moon Knight....

Loop Hero, the innovative new style of roguelike by Four Quarters, has been out for a while now, which means most players (of which there are plenty) have probably managed to beat it by this point. We found it so incredibly addicting, so beating it was only a matter of time. That said, there’s still quite a lot of grinding to do after the main story, and there’s supposed to be plenty of new content on the horizon....
