The developer behind the indie adventure title Minit is back with a side-scrolling racing cleverly named Minit Fun Racer. Devolver Digital announced the game’s launch on its Twitter account on Thursday, revealing that all of Devolver’s and the developer’s proceeds would be going directly to charity. IGN’s interview with the developer accompanied the announcement, who explain how development of the game came about and some of the inspirations behind the project....

Monster Hunter the movie just had its opening weekend, and well, things didn’t go great. According to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo (via GamesIndustry.biz), Monster Hunter made $2.2 million in North America and made $4.8 million internationally, for a grand total debut of just $7 million. Compare that to Sonic the Hedgehog’s $57 million debut ($100 million globally) or Detective Pikachu’s $54 million, and you get a sense of just how abysmal a flop Monster Hunter has turned out to be....

Upon the recent launch of Stars War Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for PS4 and Switch, players became quickly aware of an unusual bug in the system: console players could participate in cross-play with PC players, who’ve had access to the game for much longer. Jedi Academy may have just released for current-gen consoles over a week ago, but the game actually dates back to 2003, when it released for PC. So, when developer Aspyr Media re-released the game and enabled cross-play between PS4 and Switch, they unknowingly allowed PC players into the mix by default as well....

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S received age ratings in Germany. This probably means the action game is about to be re-released on both next-gen consoles very soon with some decent graphical improvements. Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions appeared in the database of the German USK games rating board. Both received the classification at the very beginning of March, but only recently it was brought to the media attention....

Inception actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt believes that video games, not films, are the future of storytelling. While being interviewed on First We Feast’s Hot Ones on YouTube, where guests eat incredibly spicy wings while answering questions, the 39-year-old said that “(video games) feel like kind of the most groundbreaking storytelling". The actor considers that games manage to convey stories in a “whole different realm than anything we’ve seen before”. Gordon-Levitt, considered a pioneer in online content creation, founded internet production company HitRecord in 2004....

Square Enix releases details on the plot and characters for its upcoming CGI film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15, which will release prior to the game. Final Fantasy XV may well be the make or break game in the long running series. It has been in development for years, and it will reportedly need to sell 10 million copies worldwide to even see a return on investment. While the series was once synonymous with well-made, perfectly executed RPGs, it has faced cooler reception over the last few installments....

It is fitting that an all-time great anime movie would have a hit-maker in J-Pop craft its theme song and now that pairing has yielded one of Japan’s most prestigious pop-music awards. In Little Nightmares 2’s Chapter 4, players must navigate through a series of dilapidated buildings as they attempt to escape the Thin Man’s grasp. Unlike Little Nightmares 2’s previous chapters which placed a heavy focus on evading pursuers, Chapter 4 focuses mainly on puzzle solving. The two most complicated puzzles that players will face in the chapter are the two elevator puzzles. Today, BioWare released an official teaser trailer pointing toward the eventual addition of a Platinum Difficulty mode for Mass Effect: Andromeda’s APEX multiplayer missions that is set to test fans by imploring them to “Take your skills to the next level.” Not much is revealed in the clip, but it does set up the potential for the studio to unveil much more information about the new difficulty in the near future....

One of the best things about the Mass Effect series is how attached we become to the characters. In the case of the first trilogy, you can form a relationship with a squadmate at the beginning of the first game that lasts up until the end of the third. This creates a bond between the player and the supporting character that is rare to find in games in general. Aside from your affable squadmates, Mass Effect has a reputation for creating quality characters in general, and not all of them are likeable....

Mass Effect 5 has been confirmed to be in development at BioWare. The sci-fi franchise exploded onto the RPG scene back in 2007, and in 2010, Mass Effect 2 would go on to be one of the most acclaimed games in the genre. Developer 4A games is breaking some big barriers when it comes to utilizing a PS5 controller on PC. The developer recently released a small patch for Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition on PC that takes full advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic capabilities. This is pretty big as it is one of the first instances of a PC game prioritizing the DualSense’s unique features. While the PS5’s DualSense controller has worked with Steam for a while now, this is the first time that a game has prioritized the haptic capabilities of the controller....

As Microsoft prepares for the launch of the Xbox One on November 22, 2013 in North America, they have slowly been upgrading many of their current-gen features and services for the next-gen. Just yesterday, they detailed the revamped version of Xbox Live Rewards, and today have explained how the next iteration of SmartGlass will improve gamers’ experiences. While the verdict is still out on the viability of second screen experiences, and whether gamers actually benefit from them, Microsoft is trying to make SmartGlass a useful and additive app for the Xbox One....
