The Mass Effect trilogy was a critical success for a number of reasons, notable among them the amazing cast of diverse characters. From the increasingly grizzled Turian security operative Garrus to the brilliant Asari Liara who slowly loses her innocence while using her biotic abilities to control others, each character feels fully developed and has their own narrative arc. Of all the characters introduced in Mass Effect 2, few are as unapologetically tough and visually interesting as Jack....

Today, BioWare has now allowed even more Mass Effect: Andromeda footage to be released online, as the latest gameplay video focuses on the attributes of the title’s Nomad vehicle and the various upgrades that can be applied to it. For those just now diving into the promotional materials for the forthcoming science fiction shooter who believe the Nomad seems familiar, it’s likely due to the fact that the unit is a more or less a new version of the Mako from the franchise’s previous entries....

For the past couple of months, rumors have been floated around about a potential Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy release, but these very rumors are a bit of a double-edged sword. It is hype-inducing for fans who have been dying for this to happen, but at the same time, it is dangerous if they are not true. There has been another huge leak of early Nintendo games, as prototypes for games like Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Yoshi’s Island, Star Fox, Star Fox 2, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and a previously never before seen Donkey Kong game for Super Nintendo that eventually morphed into Yoshi’s Island have all found their way online. There have been Nintendo leaks dating back to 2018, when the demo version of Pokémon Gold & Silver from Space World ‘97 made its way online, revealing tons of unused Pokémon designs....

With successful revivals of both King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown under its belt, SNK is now turning its sights to another classic franchise: Metal Slug. In a post by SNK’s Korean subsidiary, SNK Interactive, the company announced that a brand new entry in the Contra-esque series will be coming to mobile and consoles this year. The game was previously announced in 2019, but we haven’t heard much of anything about it until now....

The Metro Exodus controversy tied to its publisher’s decision to offer the PC version of the game exclusively via the Epic Games Store has continued to grow since it was announced six days ago. Since then, the Metro games have been “review bombed” on Steam, the author of the Metro books has offered comment, and a frustrated 4A Games employee claimed that any boycott of Metro Exodus on PC would likely result in future games skipping the platform....

Xbox Live Gold subscribers, prepare for the price hike of your life. Microsoft made an announcement Friday morning confirming that it’s increasing the Xbox Live Gold monthly subscription fee by $1, while a three-month subscription will now be hiked up to $5 more. Microsoft released a statement to explain its decision to hike up the prices for each Xbox Live Gold subscription option. “Periodically, we assess the value and pricing of our services to reflect changes in regional marketplaces and to continue to invest in the Xbox community; we’ll be making price adjustments for Xbox Live Gold in select markets,” they said....

“Xbox On.” With those two words, Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi seemingly changed gamers’ perception of motion control cameras, and how they can interact with them. Up until that point, the Kinect had been almost like an opt-in service, where the player needed to turn on their console before the device did its little head nod and then sprung into action. The Xbox One’s version of Kinect, however, appeared to be a bit more “aware” — springing to life even while the console was seemingly powered down....

In response to the recent wave of reports over Xbox Series X’s heat threshold, Tom Warren has spoken out in defense of Microsoft’s upcoming console. The Verge’s senior editor took to Twitter to assure anxious fans, maintaining that “Microsoft wouldn’t send these consoles to 100s of journalists, streamers, and youtubers if they had heat issues.” Although still under embargo, Warren clearly stated his general opinion on the matter. Fans started to worry about temperature issues following certain comments made by previewers....

Avalanche Studios confirms in a recent interview that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of open world action game Just Cause 3 will have differing resolutions. In a recent interview, Just Cause 3 game director Roland Lesterlin confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version will come in at a 1080p resolution while the Xbox One version runs at 900p. The main reason for the resolution disparity comes from the intense physics and screen space effects at work under the hood in the game and the different hardware that is available to utilize on each console....

Although some bugs and performance issues have already cropped up in Kingdom Come: Deliverance – even with its sizable day one patch in place – the story-driven medieval role-playing game from Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios has managed to garner a relatively decent player base just a few days following its release. As it so happens, it looks as if the open world title has seen its sales hit nearly 500,000 across its various platforms....

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory utilizes a gameplay style that’s never appeared in the Kingdom Hearts series before. Instead of being the usual action-RPG installment, Melody of Memory will be a rhythm game. Players will battle Heartless, Nobodies, and other KH enemies by timing button-presses to the beat of Kingdom Hearts BGM tracks. As one can imagine, this initially surprised most players following the series, but in a recent interview with IGN, Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory Co-director Masanobu Suzui cleared up how the game ended up the way it did....

A new Q&A posted by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe reveals that Kojima Productions’ upcoming game will be released on PC as well as PlayStation 4. For the past nine months, Metal Gear franchise creator Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear publisher Konami have been involved in a messy public battle, which most recently culminated in Kojima being banned from The Game Awards 2015 at Konami’s request. But few expected the reveal that came earlier this week; that Kojima’s development team, Kojima Productions, is partnering with Sony to develop a “console exclusive” on PS4....

Square Enix has announced a new Direct style presentation coming next week - since I guess everybody is doing those now - where its big hitter will be the reveal of a new Life is Strange game. Rather than a continuation of LiS or LiS 2, it’ll instead be a brand new character with brand new powers. When I read this, it confused me a little, because it’s not like Square Enix was revealing a new hero for the Avengers game - although they likely will do that too....

The CW is bringing a surprising new twist to its lineup with a live action take on Cartoon Network’s turn of the century darling, The Powerpuff Girls. Greg Berlanti, the executive superhero wrangler in charge of the network’s various comic book-styled shows, will serve as executive producer, as is tradition. Alongside Berlanti, the show will be written by Diablo Cody, known for her work on films like Juno and Jennifer’s Body, and Heather Regnier, who worked on the 2019 4th season of Veronica Mars....

In the build-up to E3 2016, developer Hangar 13 releases a teaser trailer for Mafia 3, giving fans a brief glimpse at what they can expect from the title at the gaming expo. Ever since the game was first revealed by publisher 2K Games back at 2015’s Gamescom, fans of the Mafia franchise have been left wondering about exactly what shape Mafia 3 will take. Thankfully for gamers wanting more, the game is set to take centre stage at E3 2016....
