Set to release in 2021 on all popular platforms, Lord of the Rings: Gollum is being developed and published by the German company Daedalic Entertainment. Daedalic Entertainment’s acquisition of the Lord of the Rings license is presumably a huge risk for the company, as it’s safe to say that it doesn’t have the financial strength of the gaming industry’s heavyweight publishers like EA and Activision. Daedalic Entertainment is by no means an unknown company though, as it has made a name for itself in the graphic adventure and point & click genre with excellent titles like A New Beginning and Deponia....

Magic: The Gathering Arena, the free-to-play collectible card game from Wizards of the Coast, will soon be coming to Mac OS. Initially released in beta for Windows PC in 2017, MTG Arena is a digital adaptation of the popular fantasy card game. Arriving on June 25th, the Mac launch has been timed to coincide with the release of the Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2021. As the latest Magic: The Gathering card set to be included on MTG Arena, the Core Set offers a mix of new cards and reprints of favorites from MTG’s past....

Among the series of surprises during PlayStation’s showcase event on Wednesday was an announcement that PS4 players would get alpha access to Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer. During that alpha testing, we received confirmation that Cold War will see map voting return to the franchise. Any superhero-based video game from the last decade has included the options for alternate outfits and skins that allow players to choose their favorite costumes from the comics and movies, with the latest release of Marvel’s Avengers following suit while adding a new layer to the fan-favorite feature. The game features a unique continuity for the Avengers which provided developers with the opportunity to both adapt classic costumes for the game while also creating new versions using the established designs of the characters– which might make it difficult when trying to decide which costume Captain America should wear on your next mission....

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has just released a new story trailer during Sony’s PlayStation E3 2017 press conference that confirms a handful of new fighters with Gamora, Thanos, and Black Panther joining the title’s roster. Not only did the story trailer showcase new characters for the fighting game, but also it touched on how the heroes and villains are preparing to team up with one another against the most significant threat to the universe in Ultron and Sigma....

It’s been a huge, huge couple of weeks for BioWare. Studio co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk retired and today we learned that SWTOR lead designer Daniel Erickson is following in the footsteps of executive producer Rich Vogel who left back in July. For a brand as beloved as Masters of the Universe, the franchise sure seems to have fallen on tough times lately. He-Man himself hasn’t had an animated series of his own since an excellent 2002 reboot stalled after two seasons. There have been endless attempts to get a new live-action movie out of the gate over the last decade or more. Players pool their technical know-how and mod a multiplayer mode for Just Cause 3, letting PC gamers destroy the open world of the 2015 hit in good company. A long-awaited mod that adds multiplayer to 2015’s Just Cause 3 has been released for PC. Though currently not yet available through the Steam workshop, it can be downloaded from the modders’ website and installed that way, though it should be noted that players will need a Steam copy to play....

It’s probably an understatement to say the Metal Gear Solid franchise has a bit of a complex story. Even those who’ve followed Hideo Kojima’s series since its beginnings can have trouble understanding exactly what’s going on, let alone those of us who’ve only played a couple games here and there. While we already know a bit about the story we’ll experience in Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, the prologue for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, we’ll take whatever scraps of knowledge Kojima is willing to send our way....

Colin Farrell’s portrayal of The Penguin in Matt Reeves’ The Batman is getting his own spinoff show for HBO Max. “Though that film isn’t hitting theaters until next year, a crime procedural focused on Commissioner Gordon and the Gotham Police has already been announced for HBO Max. And now there’s a second spinoff in the mix: a Penguin-based spinoff, starring Colin Farrell, has been greenlit at HBO Max.” Read more at Inverse...

Mystery Science Theater 3000 creator Joel Hodgson and Shout! Factory have launched a kickstarter to revive the show after Netflix opted not to renew it. “From modest beginnings on a local Minneapolis television station in the late 1980s to cable to a live tour, Mystery Science Theater 3000 has proved to be an enduring cult classic. The show—which features a captive audience of one human and several robots riffing on bad movies—was last seen on Netflix for a two-season revival in 2017 and 2018....

Lightyear didn’t get anywhere near infinity and beyond with an extremely disappointing result at the box office. “It’s been awhile since we’ve had multiple big budget blockbusters all fighting for space in one weekend, but that’s what we’re getting now that Lightyear has released. The Toy Story semi-spinoff putting Chris Evans into the space suit of the Space Ranger has had some stiff competition in the form of Jurassic World Dominion and Top Gun: Maverick, and it’s showing in its box office debut....

Woman In Motion, now available on Apple+, is a tribute to Nichelle Nichols and Star Trek‘s enormous influence on NASA. “During a roughly four-month period in early 1977, Nichelle Nichols worked to recruit astronauts for NASA’s then-new Space Shuttle program.
