We already knew that Magic: Legends was set to host its open beta at the end of March, but we didn’t know that beta would be held on the Epic Games Store. Perfect World Entertainment dropped this little tidbit just two weeks after announcing the beta test period, making us wonder if there were perhaps some behind-the-scenes negotiations taking place even as beta dates were being set. Epic Games told PC Gamer earlier this week that they were on the warpath for more exclusive titles....

Today saw the start of Valve’s February Steam Game Festival, and with it came the availability of over 500 game demos. One of the most exciting upcoming releases participating in the Steam Game Festival is Roguebook, a rogue-lite deck-builder from Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield. Not only did Garfield and developer Abrakam SA drop a Roguebook demo, but it also opened up pre-orders for a now-confirmed release date of June 24....

Jennifer Walters, AKA She-Hulk, is one of the many DLC characters that have leaked for Marvel’s Avengers. The cousin of original Hulk Bruce Banner, She-Hulk has risen up the ranks in recent years to become one of the most popular characters in Marvel comics. From that perspective, her inclusion in the games makes sense, though it also comes with some issues that Crystal Dynamics will need to solve. With Marvel’s Avengers already including the original Hulk in such a prominent role, making Jennifer stand out from her relative will be a legitimate challenge for Crystal Dynamics....

Disney has moved its next big Marvel Studios theatrical release, Black Widow, from November 6, 2020 to May 7, 2021. The move was widely rumored and expected as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to play havoc with the theatrical exhibition business. There was even speculation that the Mouse House could premiere Black Widow on its Disney+ streaming platform, as it did this month with Mulan. Black Widow’s shift also comes as part of a larger, major shake-up in Disney’s overall release schedule, with the company also moving other Marvel titles like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals, as well as releases such as Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake and Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile....

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is one of the biggest surprises of 2022. Marvel’s Midnight Suns is also one of my personal favorite games of 2022. Those are both big statements, but as we reach the end of 2022, it’s hard to not contextualize every piece of entertainment within the scope of the year. Yet, there are times when Midnight Suns doesn’t even feel like a 2022 game. It feels like a game from a bygone era in ways that often infuriated and delighted me in equal measure....

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is set to be one of the biggest re-releases of the year, collecting the original three Mass Effect trilogy of games in a single package with most of their DLC and enhanced graphics. Anyone that wants to purchase the base game will be out $59.99, but like with most big game releases, a Collector’s Edition is also available. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s CE is $149.99, and while it has some impressive goodies, it doesn’t actually come with the game....

We all have our own personal favourites when it comes to Mass Effect’s illustrious cast of characters. On one hand, there are people like me, who are capable of recognizing the fact that Wrex is simply unparalleled in science-fiction at large. On the other, there are people with no taste. (I’m joking - pretty much every single Mass Effect character is immensely well-written and a perfectly valid choice - don’t get annoyed and click out of the article, it’s actually quite nice....

Known as a game with almost no limits, Minecraft is in high popularity in these times of self-isolation. Offering both creative and survival mode gameplay, no matter what a player seeks to achieve, they can probably do it in Minecraft. Another great part about this title from Mojang is that it’s available on a bunch of platforms, including Bedrock, which covers console and Windows 10. For those on Bedrock, which is generally a bit more optimized than the Java version, skins are a pretty fun and essential part of the game....

Introduced in the 1.14 update for Minecraft, the stonecutter is one of the many new villager workstations with their own unique functionalities. The stonecutter hasn’t received the kind of attention as many other workstations, such as the anvil, smithing table, or even the grindstone. It’s an underrated tool that makes the life of builders, in particular, ten times easier. A stonecutter essentially allows you to easily have access to a rarer variety of blocks that previously needed to be crafted the difficult way on the crafting table....

While nothing is likely to replace the standard Minecraft experience for fans of the franchise, many are still excited for the upcoming Minecraft dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons. Minecraft Dungeons has a new May release date after the coronavirus pandemic forced it to be delayed by one month, but when the game does come out, it will give players a large world to explore, comprised of various Minecraft biomes. To tide fans over while they wait to get their hands on Minecraft Dungeons, they can check out the game’s world map....

It’s no secret that Mojang Studios’ sandbox construction game Minecraft has been used to make a number of awe-inspiring projects. Some of the more notable builds are immense in scale, such as one team of players attempting to recreate the original Destiny in Minecraft down to its mechanics and modes, but one community server called Minecraft Middle-Earth has been attempting to recreate the fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien for 10 years....

A cafe specifically aimed at nerd and geek culture prohibits men from entering in Osaka, Japan, as Atraxia Cafe hopes to create a unique girls-only atmosphere for otaku hobbies. Japan’s Atraxia Cafe seems to be the kind of place famous female gamers like Ronda Rousey might be interested in checking out the next time they’re visiting Asia’s central hub of all things video game and geek. The cafe takes aim at women who identify themselves as “otaku”, a term which loosely means someone who has obsessive interests, although it is often more narrowly associated with those who are deeply embedded in anime, manga, video game, or the often awe-inspiring cosplay culture....

The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, made famous in Netflix’s Tiger King documentary series on Joe Exotic, will be closed to the public effective immediately. Current Zoo owner Jeff Lowe confirmed the closure in a Facebook post, citing pressure from animal rights activists and federal inspectors as the reason for his decision. In March 2020, Netflix released an eight-part documentary series about the life of big cat owner Joseph “Joe Exotic” Allen Maldonado-Passage titled Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness....

Director Zack Snyder reveals inspiration in The Lord of the Rings trilogy for his DC’s Justice League. According to Snyder, his Justice League was originally meant to be only the first part of an epic trilogy. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is one of the few examples when fans could eventually see the director’s vision before the studio decided to intervene. Although the upcoming Justice League will not get any sequels and is a dead-end for DCEU in its current state, this premiere is a dream come true for all Snyder fans and one of the most anticipated blockbusters this year....

The demon warlord Gargos is now available in the Killer Instinct Season 3 roster, allowing gamers to assume the role of the franchise’s main antagonist. It’s been a long time coming, but the main antagonist of Killer Instinct, the demonic warlord Gargos, has finally been included in the game’s roster. Ditching his iconic red skin for a more modern look, the Shadow Lord is one of the last existing roster characters from the old Killer Instinct titles to find his way to the series reboot....

Koei is more than just a factory making Dynasty Warrior games. They used to be the publisher behind Ninja Gaiden, one of the best action platformers there ever was. Ryu and the gang fell on hard times, though, and we haven’t seen Ninja Gaiden since 2013’s Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge (we’re not even going to acknowledge Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z because it wasn’t made by Team Ninja).
