The LCK will host an Academy Series in hopes to grow and develop new talent, according to Kevin Kim of Korizon Esports. The series will have four open cup tournaments with 64 teams. The current LCK teams, like T1 and DRX, will send their academy players to participate against amateur teams. There will be a tournament every month, beginning in August and ending in November with a prize pool of ₩ 10,000,000 (around $8,500)....

DayZ, for all of its incompleteness and bugs, proved something very important over the holidays - that players matter. As a game, DayZ is flat out broken and the developers warned as such to the community. It’s not optimized, it’s ugly in many respects and it’s not a very good shooter. But that hasn’t mattered too much in terms of the title reaching success. Even at a hefty $30 price for an alpha build, the standalone DayZ (based on the beloved ARMA 2 mod) outsold everything on Steam - even the far cheaper, complete, critically acclaimed games during the fall sales period....

Describing Loop Hero is complicated because it feels like so many genres smashed together. If I had to sum it up, it’s like an idle game mixed with a roguelike along with elements of real-time strategy, turn-based RPG battles, card-collecting, resource management, and base-building. It’s a bizarre concoction, which makes sense since it’s coming from the masters of publishing uniquely bizarre titles, Devolver Digital. Also, I’m pretty sure I love it....

On Monday, Wizards of the Coast posted their latest revision to the banned and restricted list with quite a few surprise additions. Some of the biggest cards in the current meta in MTG Arena got banned in an attempt to improve play diversity and keep the game from growing stale. A man has been arrested in Detroit, Michigan after shooting and killing a teenager during the sale of a video game. The event becomes the latest story about video game thefts involving guns, as in April, a group of children in the nearby state of Ohio were held at gunpoint while masked robbers stole video game consoles from their home. Police say that a father in Detroit has been taken into custody after firing at a would-be video game thief....

This isn’t a controversial statement to make for the first Marvel Studios film to receive a negative “Rotten” score on the aggregate movie review site, Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its expansive pacing—which, believe it or not, is two minutes longer than Denis Villeneuve’s Dune—Eternals struggles to balance its competing impulses and obligations. The movie wants to be a superhero creation myth, but also a grandiose epic about the cyclical nature of violence; it attempts to be a melodrama about its dizzying cast of 10 broody protagonists, but it also must sell action figures with CGI beat ‘em ups....

Today, the file sizes for Mass Effect: Andromeda’s supported platforms of PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One have been revealed, as some fans are reporting the ability to now pre-load the game ahead of its release date next week.
